I watched BTCC daily as a kid. I was addicted. This was pretty special to see.

John Cleland is just a stellar interview every time. He’s a fan and a competitor, he gives you a sympathetic feeling of excitement that’s addicting.

How great is it to hear the drivers talk about how excited they are to hop back in their old cars. They're so passionate of about it, I can't imagine many F1 drivers being that excited.

the worlds best racing series of the era no doubt.

I used to love watching this back in the late 90's even though i lived in brooklyn, new york at the time, i was totally into btcc. these were based on working class cars, front wheel drive four cylinder cars that average people could actually buy stock at the dealer and then modify to resemble the race cars.
@ArthurZakaryan238 жыл бұрын
+MrTimeless101 I used to have an Infiniti G20 (P10 Chassis/First Gen.) which is the European/Japanese Nissan Primera and I drooled when I would see the P10 Primera's in JTCC/BTCC and STCC (Swedish). But as much as the body resembled the car it represented, underneath there were little to any similarities or carryover pieces used in the race car versions. Similar to today's DTM or Australian V8 Supercars, these are purebreed race cars through and through and cost well over half a million a piece. The 90s though for saloon car racing was definitely one of the best eras and will never again be replicated. As exciting as current BTCC is and don't get me wrong it is still some of the best racing to be found anywhere, the sheer number of competitors in this era and the competition as a whole was just something else not to mention the machinary being used.

All of these cars were affordable normal family saloon's. And they made these beautye's out of them! That was one reason why these were so great. You could resemble yourself as a BTCC -Racer with low price. In real life these were normal "boring" daily drivers, but as a racing cars, they were the best!

How do they go about what the cars can have for power or drive train to make a race? I'd like to know more about that part. Earlier I watched a mustang vs mini race that was amazing, but how did that start. I want to know more history

Peoples alligance was to whichever car they preferred in TOCA 2. The penny still hasn't dropped that TOCA 2 did more to publicise this than TV or the actual tournament. Of course the real thing is fabulous but millions love it because of the game, without which it would be no more popular than Saturday afternoon wrestling.

As soon as big aero kits were added, it was ruined. Drivers too scared to tap another car and break something. Australia series the Supercars, they've stayed away from really complicated aero kits and as a result its great racing.
