Usually, you hear mourning doves and not see them. The sound they make brings back many warm and fond memories for me personally. Not only was it superbly filmed, it teaches and draws the viewer in to learn more about these beautiful birds. VERY well done Larry! This is such a well done documentary!!! I learned so much. I have several mourning doves that come to my bird feeder. The 1st pair were courting on my balcony, so I put a bird feeder out. Now I have lots of mourning doves, squirrels, sparrows, blue jays and crows that stop by. ❤️

Thank you so much for this wonderful video! What a beautiful family! I love birds. unfortunately I don't see doves here, in Montreal downtown, but I see a lot of pigeons! I feed them everyday, and help them when they need , if I can! Once a couple had babies, inside my appartment! I also have a female pigeon, for ten years , in my appartment. She is not in a cage. She is my beloved friend. Watching your doves in nature was enchanting! The light in the tree, the babies growing happily, the wonderful parents.... This superb video says how much you love these lovely birds!! I

Larry, this was lovely. Thank you for sharing it. I started researching mourning doves just this morning after we found a nest with two eggs in one of our hanging baskets of bougainvillea last week. I pulled the basket down to water the flowers and the father flew right off, startling me. He blended in so well into the bougainvillea, I had no idea he was even there. Once we saw the eggs, we hung the baset back up immediately and the father came right back. I imagine the eggs will hatch any day now. Just as your birds did, mom or dad is always there incubating the eggs, night and day, through rain and shine. It's really quite amazing.

I adore this video! We’ve had mourning doves for 6 years now in the same evergreen tree. We also have a robin’s nest right above our front door. We got the chance to watch them mate, mama build the nest to laying 4 beautiful blue eggs. Now only 2 robins are left. Dad keeps coming to feed the smallest one and looks as though he’s having a talk with the other. It has been so much fun to watch this from beginning to end. Our doves are never afraid of us and will sit next to me on our deck after the fledglings are big enough to be alone. They seem to know my voice -I call them Lovey and Dovey not very original. My husband and I have become avid bird watchers and lovers! Our kids tease us all of the time. My Father In Law just passed away and we’ve been seeing so many cardinals now too! I just love and am so grateful to God that we get to watch doves and now robins every summer. I love the mourning dove song! I know people find it sad but I find it peaceful and comforting! I can hear 2 right now! Your video made me so emotional, Mourning doves really have a beautiful love story! Thanks so much for putting all that hard work to make this! Amazing! Great job! Trish from Minnesota. 🐦

Thank you very much for your reply, my brother. I love these doves with a black collar on their neck. They are called Asian doves. They are abundant in my country, Iraq, and their voice is very beautiful. But these little doves are not available in Asia, only in North America, Canada and Mexico. He's beautiful, and I love him And the Asian large black-collared dove, unfortunately, is not available in Massachusetts, which makes me very sad.🥺 @@VoicesofHistory

Great video, thank you! There are two kinds of dove in this video. The Mourning Dove with pointed tail and spots on the back, and a pair of Ringneck Doves (at 5:25 and 5:56) with tails that are rounded at the ends and with dark half-rings on the backs of their necks. The Mourning Dove is the most common wild dove in North America. The Ringneck Dove is not an American species but is sometimes found, probably escaped or released and adapted.

I call them Mr & Mrs They leave the babies when they fledge on my back deck for me to babysit as they start a new brood. They look for me in my window when they want protecting. It’s been a few years and they get braver here all the time. It’s winter here and there are 16 doves huddled on my deck sleeping. They will head to the trees when it’s dark. So I rescued a fledgling at my work that was only a couple days old I nursed it back to health and now it's been two weeks and the little guy is doing awesome when should I start feeding him seeds I don't think I should release him back into the wild because I do not know if he will survive so I bought them an awesome cage and he's been hanging out with me ever since he likes to go for rides in my truck and love to sit on my Dash and just chill and listen to music on low setting of course his name is Nicodemus and this bird has totally brighten my day ever since I'm never own Birds I always thought they were stupid but rescuing him from death and hand feeding him to the point where he is now has given me a new appreciation for the animals like your documentary I want to learn more about those so I can take good care of this guy identified him as a dove by looking on the internet and him being a mourning dove makes it more awesome to watch these videos and learn more about him

What is your first name? Thank you for watching my video and commenting. I enjoyed reading your inspiring comment. I am happy your little bird is doing well. You are very fortunate. Most birds rescued I think don't do as well as yours is doing. It is a hard decision to know what to do with the bird. It sounds like he/she is doing very well in your care. It is a war out there in the world for these little birds. My wish is for your bird to stay safe. I would leave him with you as long as he is doing well. Perhaps soon you will feel and see a need to let him go when he is strong enough to fly and eat on his own. Please feel free to contact me with questions. My number is 970-208-6853. When I was in Kindergarten 1970 in Sunnyvale Ca, I heard that cooing sound of a male. I looked up and saw that dove. A mourning dove! I grew up in the SF Bay Area hearing it my whole life, but after coming to Washington state, I hardly ever if ever heard them. But when we moved to Yakima - central East Washington I saw and heard Eurasian collared dove. Then finally this year a mating pair of mourning doves have been coming for my seeds!!! And there are now at least 2 mating pairs! It’s sweet how memories of my childhood are linked to mourning doves.

I usually get from 10-30 of these little guys every day. They come early in the morning and just before dark. They sit outside my door and make that same sound. I give them bird seed, but they also like dry cat food. They have to compete with the pigeons, so I throw handfuls in the opposite direction of where the pigeons are. Of course they come over there next and muscle in but the doves get a window of opportunity, and they can get their share if they hustle. (which they always do, they're not lazy or stupid) It helps to level the playing field a little, and that way everybody gets something to eat.

I had such a dove experience. As you know the dove represents the Holy Spirit. On Easter Saturday April 11 2020. A hawk attacked a dove and hurled him into my window breaking* his neck. Even the outline of the dove was imprinted on my window. Never forget it. It was so spiritual and searching for the meaning. Maybe my time her on Earth is drawing to a close.

I see a morning dove family or maybe two in my yard constantly. It's the bird I probably see with my eyes the most. Blue Jays and Cardinals are pretty common cat birds. I hear a lot. Crows like to make an appearance but they don't seem to live on my yard The morning dove couple and I think some of their kids there always hanging out and don't seem to be in any hurry to go anywhere

Our doves had 2 eggs but only one baby was born & flew away. Parents came back, had two more eggs & now, they are taking care of 3 eggs. The parents still locally with the 1st baby.

I think that you had some good camera work, but you showed ring necked doves, or collard doves in some clips, and not mourning doves.

Hi Anne Marie. I am so glad you enjoyed my video. It was a joy putting together. That is a globe willow tree the birds are in. I live in western Colorado. Where are you located? I love birds. One of my favorite scriptures in the Bible is Job 12:7. I have two other bird videos on my channel. One with a nest of Robins and the other a nest of Ospreys. Let me know if you would like to view them also. I hope you are subscribed to my channel. Please feel free to share these videos. God bless you!! WEBSITE: larrycappetto.com

Thank you, I really enjoyed this love story. Do you know if doves ever fly in flocks? Or possibly pigeons? On my drive to work I see a group of birds flying around in big circles together like a dance, same time and location every morning. They fly above a house that’s tucked in the vineyards, so I presume they all reside around there. It is a country setting. They resemble pigeons or doves in size and color are not the smaller black birds that fly in flocks. I can’t seem to find any information about this kind of flock or what they are doing. If you have any information, that would be great.

I ran across your video as I was looking for info on the birds because I have two that have come to my home recently and they sit on the windowsill looking into the house. If I’m in the master they’re at that window-if I move to the guest room-then they move to that window! It’s odd, but sweet. Do you have any idea why they’re doing this? Anyway, I thoroughly enjoyed the video (⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️)-thanks so much for your time, effort and sharing! I’m going to refer my nieces to it as they’re being homeschooled during the quarantine.

despite the fact they look crazy as hell feeding that crop milk to their chicks, the mourning dove is one of my favorite birds. i know they are common and have a dull coloration, i love their sounds, and i love the looks of their little faces. so precious!!!! i cannot believe people SHOOT THEM!!!!!! it's disgusting i think... i think they should be protected. they are an extremely unique bird species!!!

There's a nest under the roof of my deck. They keep having chick's and then they are at it again. Saw them getting into action today. Guess there will be more chicks in two weeks! I've only see the little ones when they are pretty big ...and then they are gone!
