I learned this style from Ray Dalke while i was still a teen! Unfortunately, i had to leave after the second year because of my amateur boxing schedule! I miss Ray and the guys! They taught me what true discipline and dedication really looked like!

@@22sc_ Yeah no it's just to try to sound badass lol You don't see boxers scream when they strike.

Kyokushin is karate without the faff. No silly points based fighting nobody cares about how fast you can slap. It could be one of the best systems ever, if not for the no punching to the head rule. That one rule really neuters it as a martial art. It's the most effective way to fight in most situations and if you can't dodge, block or take a punch to the face you're not going to last long in any kind of fight where that rule doesn't exist.

As someone who practices Kyokushin, I come from a TKD background. We did the whole kihap (kiai) in TKD. I was taught it was to control breathing, put more energy into the strike, and startle the opponent. As far as the effectiveness of Shotokan, there are many successful MMA fighters who come from a Shotokan background. Where they shine is in their distancing, speed, accuracy, and footwork. Just like Kyokushin has much to offer so does Shotokan. They also lack certain elements. That is why, if you want to be a good fighter, you should cross-train, especially including grappling into your arsenal. Osu.@@BigUriel
