one thing i notice is on the offensive glass when the shot goes up he likes to nudge the defender under the basket where theyre not in great position to get the rebound and he is. he also looks to get good position after every shot is taken. he also just goes for every rebound lol. reminds me of russel westbrook. credit to him hes only 6'3 but crazy vert.

"November 24, 1960, Chamberlain grabbed an NBA-record 55 rebounds, along with 34 points and 4 assists, in a 132-129 home loss against the Russell-led Boston Celtics. On November 29, Chamberlain recorded 44 points, 38 rebounds, and a then-career-high 7 assists in a 122-121 road win over the Los Angeles Lakers." Wilt Chamberlain's rebounds are beyond belief and the idea a man scoring over 30 points and 30 rebounds in these two games was "tall" compared to Rodman isn't just ridiculous but its irony at a high level, he played at both ends of the court and the only player who was comparable was probably Elgin Baylor who was similar in numbers to Rodman for defence but in a whole other league to Rodman in offensive play!

You’re comparing apples to oranges. Wilt, Baylor, Russell and most of the other guys considered to be the greatest rebounders in the game, played at least half their careers before 1967, when the NBA introduced and started enforcing the goaltending rule. A lot of Wilt’s rebounds in those games came off the rim or as the ball was coming down to the rim and would be called goaltending today.

He’s #12 behind Wilt, Russell, Bob Pettit, Jerry Lucas, Nate Thurmond, Wes Unseld, Walt Bellamy, Dave Cowens, Elgin Baylor, George Milan, and Andre Drummond. Chamberlain and Russell are far and away the best; they both averaged 9 rebounds per game more than Rodman.

@libfit9068
@libfit9068 Жыл бұрын
Rodman was LIGHTYEARS a better rebounder than any of them. First off, players like Wilt and Russell played in a primitive era where the players wouldn't even make a high school team today (if they can somehow time travel). Players back then were so unathletic that hardly anyone aside from the Centers (cause of their height) could even dunk, and the small handful of players who could dunk were just rim grazers. Players back then would brick wide open shots and players like Wilt and Russell could mass up rebounds cause most of the other players were just flat out garbage. Secondly - most of these players played in an era with the highest amount of possessions. Which means more shots were taken. More shots taken = more rebounding opportunities. Players from the 60s-70s. And players from the 2015+. Games today and back then are like 130-124, 122-118, etc. Back in the 90s, games were more slow paced and more defensive. Games would end like 91-87, 101-93, etc. Third - Rodman was a power forward, rebounding against Centers. Most teams rely alot of their Centers to catch rebounds. If you have a team with Rodman, you'll have a PF who can rebound better than Centers, PLUS your normal Center who can rebound. That makes Rodman extremely valuable. What's crazy is, Rodman played in the Golden Age of BIG MEN, against some of the greatest Centers of all time, and he was STILL winning Rebounding Titles.. 7 straight rebounding titles is insane.
@enigmoxical
@enigmoxical Жыл бұрын
@@libfit9068 Not taking anything away from DR, he was a great HOF player. But you really show your ignorance by disrespecting 60’s era players. The vast majority of NBA players today would disagree agree with you, except maybe JJ Reddick, who is just a dumbass.
@libfit9068
@libfit9068 Жыл бұрын
@@enigmoxical 60s players were actually, god awful. They literally played in a primitive era when hardly anyone paid attention to basketball in general. Jerry West stated that the majority of players were getting summer jobs to supplement their income. Infact, they were still recovering from segregation. The league flat out was bad, there were only 18 black people in the entire league, and to even be allowed in the league, you needed two years of college which was more difficult for blacks at the time. The league was watered down, and didn't even have close to the highest caliber athletic players in the country playing. Players like Wilt and Russell, took advantage of that along with the awful skill level at the time, and caught unlimited rebounds. Compare that to Rodman who played in the golden era when basketball was at the HEIGHT of it's popularity, against the greatest big men of all time, as a 6'7 PF, getting 7x straight rebounding titles, AT THE PF POSITION. It's no contest.

Well you’re wrong. Here’s why you’re wrong. Wilt played in an era that was BY FAR the fastest pace in league history. It was also an era with much weaker FG%. That combination lead to MANY MANY more rebounding chances. There were WAY more missed FGs. The 90s wasn’t even a particularly fast era. What Rodman did in the 90s is BY FAR the greatest rebounding display ever. It’s not close.
