As a Piston fan since mid 80's. Dennis the best defender I've seen. Didn't take a day off ever. He could go to Vegas party it up, play that evening, still gave 100%. One of the only players in sport that could do that. Mentally Dennis was too good, nobody could trash talk him. The Best

I've always believed that Dennis Rodman was an underrated passer! He was a really good passer if you ask me! Many times he'd get the rebound and throw a good outlet pass which would lead to an easy basket! And obviously he's the best rebounder I've ever seen! I was born in 1977, so I wasn't around when Bill Russell and Wilt Chamberlain were averagin 20+ rebounds! But my favorite part in The Last Dance was when Dennis Rodman talked about rebounding! And I quote: "I'd just sit there and react, react. I just practiced a lot about the angle of the ball and the trajectory of it. You got a Larry Bird, it's gonna spin. You got a Magic, it'll maybe spin. When Michael shoot over here, I position myself right there. Now it hit the rim, it's boom. Click, go back this way. Boom, here, here. Click, go that way. Boom, that way. Click here, this way. So basically I just start learning how to put myself in a position to get the ball." My jaw dropped open when I saw him reveal his secrets in The Last Dance! I also read in a Dennis Rodman autobiography where he would say that he would very rarely box out! He would just tip the ball to himself!

As a piston fan for the past 60 years, i know and love dennis. Impress yourself by recalling that he's the guy that was dominant the late 80's and the late 90's, with back to back championships with my pistons, and back to back to back championships with the bulls. Ten years, six championships.

I remember being 4 years old, watching the 1988 NBA Finals and watching the Pistons play that year (this was the start of me watching basketball).. and I clearly remember telling my Grandpa "the Pistons are better when that Rodman guy plays. They need to play him more." I think that might have turned my Grandfather into a Rodman fan, because my Grandfather always cheered for whatever team Dennis Rodman was on after, while I always cheered for the Bulls. When Dennis Rodman joined the Bulls, it really felt like a match made in heaven. My Grandfather and I both cheering on the Bulls seemed like an unreal dream that first year Rodman was there... it's too bad my Grandfather never lived to see the other Championships the Bulls and Rodman would work for.

I grew up north of Chicago in the late 80s and lucky enough to experience the 6 in 8 run but prior to the last three when I heard they got Rodman my first reaction was oooh man that guy from detroit i hate all while all you heard from the media was is he going to break appart the team. What were they thinking? Three years later good thing they got him. Obviously internet in its infancy days circa mid 90s its not until way later you learn of some of the stories like how Dennis was pretty much broke and it set up a perfect situation where he needed to perform and under a guy who despite years was an adversary he respected the hell out of in Jordan - on the court you can tell Dennis did not want to let Jordan down. He turned out to be the ultimate team mate, all energy all the time, never took a play off. Mike probably put up with some of that off court stuff because he knew at the end of the day Dennis wanted to win. Him running down the court both arms up like he just hit a game 7 winner are great. Kids today will never see an anomoly like Rodman since its all just a collection of shooters, this guy is in the hall on the strength of defense and rebounding the basketball which manifests itself from work ethic and his under rated baskeball IQ. I miss the days when players took pride in playing defense

All I know is when I heard the news back in the 95-96 season with the bulls that he was joining the team, I immediately thought of a championship run. The bulls were lacking that toughness and defensive presence. Especially when Dennis can guard on the perimeter and clamp guys in the post. The guy was simply phenomenal. That was probably the most fun build I ever had, and it always killed me when people got mad that I'm 6'8 and can't shoot a 3 until they saw me rebound over everyone while able to switch off to defend the perimeter lmao. I made it a goal to aim for lower than 6 pts, but always aimed for more than 15 rebounds. the funniest shit is hearing people be like "how the fuck you get 2 points but 24 rebounds and 8 assists?"

Rodman's defense was ruthless. And I loved how he frustrated the big guys (Magic, Barkley, Malone-I mean big). He didn't care who you were or how big you were, he was there to hustle. He was fearless in that regard. He was something to behold.

Bulls fan here, I always thought of Dennis on the same plane as Scottie Pippen. I loved the way he played the game and absolutely knew how great he was. I always tell people on my perfect team I’d have Magic, MJ, Pippen, Rodman, and Kareem. His style fits a team with scorers perfectly. Selfless and relentless.

I don't remember if it was when Rodman was on the Pistons or the Bulls, but it was early in his career, and one of his teammates mentioned in an interview that he would study the trajectory of rebounds, in other words, he would know the ball would miss, and know roughly where the ball would end up before the ball arrived. And that doesn't account for his passion, tenacity and toughness as a basketball player. The guy was an absolute beast on the court.

Rodman had an insane vertical leap. He would hit his head on the backboard, a lot. The other thing he had, was the ability to know where the ball was going to bounce. So half of it was smart, the other half was athleticism.

Amazing basketball player. Props to Mark Aguirre for giving up his starting spot to Rodman. That decision won us two chips.
