This episode really shows how much money cannot buy you love. A lot of us are looking for the husband that she had before.. A lot of us are sitting right now thinking.. well dang if I had a man to do those things I wouldn’t complain BUT she is sitting here letting us know that it’s not money or providing that makes a good husband… Nothing but GOD can make him good for his wife ❤

It is really about how they love. In the 5 love languages, her primary love language is quality time. His love language is gifts. Her love tank was empty, because he kept giving her stuff (money and cars) and she wanted him to get to know her. Spend time with her and he seemed to travel alot. There was a neglect of her love language. She wasn't fulfilled in her marriage. And she was exhausted. I hope they are working on how she needs to be loved.

1:42:55 I love that she said this. Something I learned from my Dad after my divorce. He asked me in the form of a question but I realized later it was his way of sharing wisdom…he asked me “What if marriage wasn’t so much about making you happy but about making you holy?” I didn’t have an answer. Now I know he didn’t mean holy in terms of perfection or even righteousness. But holy in terms of the likeness of God. “Be ye holy for I am holy” In marriage we have so many opportunities to learn what it means to love, sacrifice, and forgive. These characteristics make us more like Christ every time we get to express them. Hence making us more like our Heavenly Father…holy.

It is beautiful to witness what God is doing through this podcast. "Fight hell for your marriage." Indeed. Rahsaan and Erica are showing us what it takes to get to that 40 year wedding anniversary: weather the storm, keeping Jesus at the center and DO THE WORK TO HEAL. May the Lord continue to bless their union and use their testimony to help other couples who are on the verge of giving up.🙏🏾

It's crazy because after hearing this, a lot of women would still say he was a wonderful husband! We get so used to material things, and as long as we're being "kept" and he's not cheating, it's OK. This pleases me that she didn't ignore that she NEEDED more. It's also a blessing that his eyes were open to what she truly needed.

And he’s not a good husband. So when I go back because they have children together, so I’m just don’t wanna be alone. And he may have change, but I don’t think so And I say that, because so many women forgive me and for cheating, but men really don’t forget women cheating And what she’s saying is true women are being taught if he halfway work I have a treat you nice marry him Because it’s 10 women to one man Bad, if I’ve been handed down from generation

Listen the transparency in this episode is priceless. Everything she experienced I experienced in my marriage. My husband put music before me and our family and I made the decision to divorce. I made the decision, which was so hard because I didn’t really want to, because he did not think counseling was necessary and I saw how he would bend/change for everyone but me. I so appreciate this conversation. It healed something in me today and confirmed my choice.

I love the way her husband is tuned into her and what she’s saying. It’s like he never took his eyes 👀 off of her. For me that is so important when we actually just stop and listen to what our mates are saying. My EX would never give me this much attention. Whenever I would speak he would literally looked up at the ceiling as if he couldn’t wait until I was quiet. 😐 Thank God I’ve moved on and so much happier now! 😊

What I found absolutely special and God ordained about this entire thing is that at the Newbirth podcast event, people were lined up for questions and Laterras was trying to cut the event bc they were over the time limit and when he said "we're going to stop at- the last person will be" a lady interrupted him and called out who she thought he should stop at and he said "No. We're going to stop at the lady in the green." Which was this couple right here... So unless he had someone/producer/church worker directing him where to stop at- then that moment was really God ordained.

I love when you have raw couples without anything to sell. Marriage is a spiritual battle. The devil is constantly looking for cracks in your marriage and will send you what you think you want. The story about the devil sending that man was very important for those struggling in their marriages. Rahsaan's awareness and ability to put things into not only context and perspective but also retrospect in an effort to move forward left me wanting to hear more from him. The other woman that thinks she can speak loosely about you because she had your man for a fleeting moment has nothing on you dear Erica. She speaks from a place of hurt, rejection and on top of all that ignorance. Don’t let her get to you. You spoke with wisdom. If she truly were the best ( in her own eyes mind you) she won’t be in an extra marital relationship, and number two she won’t feel the need to belittle the woman whose husband returned to her. That shows it was just a mere fling ! Hold your head up really high and know that you are called to be great in the Lord whom you serve. The bumps in the road don’t change that.

I read a book that says people should be able to meet 75% of their own needs, and rely on a partner only for the other 25%. We can not expect anybody else to supply all our needs, gotta find it from within.

This episode was powerful 💯🔥🔥🔥💯 . The work that they put in is incredible. I remember how I felt hit me "out the blue" with I want a divorce. And she was done done. Looking back I began to see all the signs I had missed long before that. When the Lord blesses me with my future wife I won't make that mistake again! That nugget about men learning to be fathers but not husband's Wasson deep. Men we need to band together reach out more, share more. I pray we all do better. Another banger Bro!

"It's okay to just stand and be silent and sometimes just wait so that God can give him what it is that he needs to hear. It doesn't have to come from you all of the time. Just work on you and trust in the Lord." Now that was a WORD!! When I heard Erica say that part at the end, I started to cry because God has been dealing with me about that in my own marriage. That's the part that is so hard to do. It's hard to not continuously try to express what I am feeling because I feel like my husband just doesn't understand. So I bring it up again and again because I think that maybe I didn't explain myself too well the first time. I'm learning to just be quiet and let God deal with my husband in His way and in His time. I have to focus on how I can be better and pray to not respond so quickly every time I disagree with things. So I trust God, and will continue to trust Him always. This couple's testimony is so beautiful, and I know that this video did not reach my feed by mistake. It was put here for my learning. Thank God for this video and for this beautiful testimony. I GIVE ALL THE GLORY TO GOD!!!

Lemme tell you: first of all, shout out to my classmates!!! I love that y’all are so willing to be transparent. People think when y’all look that good and you’ve been married that long and have succeeded in the way most people equate success that everything is always good. Y’all have wisdom to give whether you’re married or single and this isn’t the first time I’ve been blessed by it. Also, I was gonna say my favorite thing is that after so many years of them no longer residing in our city, they STILL sound like they’re home. Baltimore standup!!! 😂 Baltimore is NOT Maryland nor is it the DMV. We’re something else.

This episode spoke loud and clear to me about letting go and letting God deal with and guide your husband. As I continue to heal from 19 years of marriage and 10 years being divorced; I realize that I am now learning and understanding why my husband reacted and responded the way he did. Although I only saw his faults and the way he didn't show up how I needed him to; I now see that their were things and behaviors and responses that I could have offered that would have changed that situation. I thank the Griers for being transparent and honest about their journey and healing that has taken place in their lives and their marriage. Thank you Laterras for this platform and the profound insights and wisdom that is shared with your viewers. The episodes have truly been a blessing to me.

We can’t take a persons feelings for granted. My mother cheated which in turn cost her three bullets to the head. God wasn’t ready to take my mother at 74 she’s still here although unwilling to tell her story. This man took in my mother and her three bastard children, put a roof over our heads, took care of me & siblings as if we were biologically his own. My mom took him for granted, the end of this story my mom survived, he thought she was dead, after 3 bullets to the head, I thought too that she was gone, he shot himself once and he didn’t make it. I truly love this episode, it was a testament to the grace and endurance of love. It’s so easy to walk away and forget that marriage is a covenant not a convenience. The fact that there were so many different trials and yet they endure them all is exactly the meaning of loving one another as CHRIST loves us and gave HIS all for us. Regardless to how many times we fall short, CHRIST love endures. Thank you for being one of the few that didn’t throw in the towel and looked beyond the faults to a love that is reflective of its purpose. Your story will now encourage and inspire many others who was about to give up. Beautiful testimony!

When she talked about wanting to be known and loved deeper, it reminded me of an excerpt from a book I read; hope she sees it and it resonates with her!: "I be a woman with a woman's feelings. Freddy showed me the way, but it was me who did the feeling, me who allowed passion to claim my body like drowning; something I never admitted before. I was born for loving...I was meant for loving and Freddy never enjoyed all I had to give...Freddy was the man to make my love blossom, but he just never had the time. Instead of feeling sorry, I felt peaceful like I finally knew who I be. Freddy sacrificed more than he knew. Freddy, who knew so much...didn't know me...didn't know *I be an ocean*." - Anna, from "Douglass' Women", by Jewell Parker Rhodes.

Especially as a millennial living in a world where dating is hard. I am thankful to see black people fighting for love and growing in the love that they already have. I pray for this couple to continue on their Journey with God May other couples do the same. Praise God for your podcast being a tool in their relationship belt. Laterras, honestly, I think this is a sign for you as well that there’s more here for you to do. I was at the Atlanta taping, and live shows are great, but I think you’re called to more. It sounds like a conference is coming, and that's all I have to say. Maybe a cruise or retreat can be set up so you can have both single and married couples there, and we can have somewhat of a vacation. Do it around the time of your book release so you can sell signed copies of your book.
