Outsider's perspective (I literally just heard of this band yesterday night). I think part of the 'lack of enthusiasm' you're detecting is the song, since it's really mellow. I'd agree that's it's probably the weakest performance of the KCRW recordings. I really enjoyed City Club and I'll Be Around (but basing off the comments, it sounds like longtime fans hate these songs, so.. shrug).

Harvey Duenas yeah, I'm not a "long time fan" I've known about them since they were really small but never listened and now I love their old music and the old band but I don't like how the band is currently because they pretty much backstabbed their bassist and drummer who were there from the beginning when they were nobody's and had no money and did this because they loved to. Long story short they kicked out their two long time friends because they didn't want to change their style in music and sign with a new record label and they changed their style in music for fame which defined them and changed their band for fame and money is really sad ☹️

NateDog 55 I don't like their new style but I doubt they did it for the money. They (Brooks and Matt) were just getting bored of their old sound, and Stonio was leaving temporarily anyway to focus on his band Cat Signs. All that was left was Scott and he didn't want to change since he's been writing and producing almost every single song they've had and he loved it. It's sad but oh well.

its not that bad but a slight step down from how they were able to once perform this song. Honestly idk if they decided to raise the tempo or if the drummer is just nervous but its definitely faster and sounds rushed. sometimes time constraints lead to that as well.

Man Scott was right. They are making the band gay by trying to play perfect all the time. This sounds so trashy and out of rhythm. They should of just let Kyle continue playing the keys. There was no reason to add that other dude that fucks up every piano part every time they play an older song. The drums man he's trash Scott just play the drums way better.
