The GMs were designed to be the Federation’s general purpose mobile suit so naturally they were never as powerful as the RX-78-2 Gundam during the One Year War as this was a decision to ensure that it could be issued to as many pilots as possible.

Most Gundam shows will show both sides of the conflict. I'm 3 episodes in and we still haven't the Gundam's pilot. Solari must be a Newtype the way she keeps sensing when the Gundam is near.

Solari is a newtype, but she just denies it cuz she never really bought into Deikun's ideology. It's also because the Gundam pilot might also be a newtype pilot too, especially since he's a kid and already using a weapon of war, typical feddie child soldier and all that.

@@GrandAdmiralBatuKhan Newtypes are the pinnacle of spacenoid ideology. For her to be a Newtype and not piloting a Zeon super weapon is nonsense. Newtypes are used in gundam to explore the deeper emotions and pshychological conflicts and beliefs of the characters through psychic links. He being a newtype while the kid wasn't was a waste and totally defeats the point of what they are used for as plot devices in the franchise. If they wanted to follow the typical gundam formula, they would have stated up front that Zeon is being defeated on earth due to Gundams. They would have gone to that base in the beginning as they were being pursued by the earth federation trying to buy time for Operation Odessa. While trying to buy time they encounter the gundam in a battle and the main char gets defeated and her and the gundam pilot share a newtype psychic link. She feels bad because he is a kid not much older than her own. This triggers a connection and psychic dialog between the two. But the battle is a stalemate and the gundam withdraws. Female Zeon then gets upgraded with a special Zeon weapon designed for Newtypes and then there is the final battle during the take off of the escape ships with multiple potential endings: dialog and psychic links between her and the gundam pilot and the kid allows the ships to escape seeing that war is hell; dialog and psychic links and she gets defeated but the kid doesn't kill her because she is a mother or another variation of what actually happened but a different death for the kid, maybe he sees her fight valiantly and decides not to kill her and allow them to escape but then gets killed by an earth federation bomb or some such thing....

Since this was supposed to be a more Zeon-centric show, it was a good decision to not show the Gundam pilot until later on. Gundam pilots usually get too much attention anyway and they will often steal the spotlight, which could derail the whole narrative they were trying to tell. The idea behind this show was to authentically feel what the Zeon perspective was like whenever they would come across a powerful Gundam on the battlefield, almost as if they were encountering a demon of war. In wartime, every side ends up feeling like their enemies are monsters. Naturally, the reality of war is that every soldier is automatically conditioned to dehumanize their enemies while only seeking to look after their own people, it’s a matter of survival. This is evident for the Gundam pilot just as much as it is for every other soldier. Every time someone is lost on one’s own side, it is felt by their comrades, which then fuels their anger to feed into a cycle of hatred and vengeance. It perpetuates more conflict and makes it never-ending. However, our protagonist, Solari, actively chooses to break out of this cycle and seeks to treat the Gundam pilot with humanity and show him that they too are just human beings that he doesn’t need to slaughter anymore. Being at least a partially-developed newtype certainly helps her to do this, seeing as they are better at feeling empathy and sensing the presence of others. But not all newtypes are like her either. Plenty of other newtypes in the UC timeline would’ve chosen to fight and not pursued an antiwar resolution (Char Azanable, Io Fleming, Jerid Messa, Haman Karn, etc). Letting go and seeking peace isn’t easy, even for those who are newtypes that are able to feel more than the average person.

​@@willd1mindmind639 Eh it's already a cliche to have a newtype always having to upgrade with a mobile suit suited for them and go beam spamming their enemies. While the show isn't that great, I like how it changes the dynamics between grunt and Gundam, and even newtypes here are used primarily for the true meaning behind them, which is to be able to understand one another without misunderstandings and to end the cycle of war and violence, even on a personal level, which is what Solari did with the Gundam pilot and broke her own cycle for revenge, rather than turn them into superheroes with machines that cross the line between real robot and super robot.

Watch it in French. I KNOW. But that's how the lips are synched, and the acting is solid overall. The English & Japanese dubs have a couple characters who could've been better. Overall, THIS ROCKED! The ending's a bit rushed, and some aspects are vague if you're not a Gundam fan, but still, this was what I wanted out of the show despite the minor flaws.

This series is made of Unreal Engine 5... They literally tried using Metahumans style and the Mobile Suit design is almost realistic-like. But in Fortnite, they created the Team Deathmatch game mode themed with this series. The Both MS design (Gundam EX and Zaku) in Fortnite barely downgraded the details but still the same giant size, players may control these Mobile Suits (Only in this custom Game Mode).

Ep 1 starts rough but dear God the gundam is a menace, like reverse flash flash levels of hate.

To be fair it probably took crazy rendering considering how detailed and huge the MS are. But I don't know why they wouldn't just do live action for some parts like Pacific Rim or something. Human CGI almost always a fail There are very few purely CGI movies with giants that don't look wonky though so I'd say this looks better than average. It's a unique idea but annoying that this technology hasn't come very far still, or at least we still aren't seeing it at its best yet.

The GM’s balance was thrown off by the loss of its arm, causing the pilot to be jolted in the cockpit. Also, being shoulder charged by the Gundam doesn’t help the target’s equilibrium. It’s simply a matter of physics, although the scene could have made this more obvious in the in-cockpit shots. One of the vulnerabilities of a bipedal mech is the difficulty of maintaining an upright stance with sufficiently large impacts to its frame. And mobile suits aren’t notable for padding or comfort in the first place. The force of any blows to the central chassis would be transmitted to the pilot. The cockpit is practically a metal box suspended 50+ feet above ground, with all the instability that this suggests. And the pilot is just a bag of bones and flesh being bounced around inside. In addition, the reaction likely has an emotional component- losing your mech’s integrity and being jostled while fighting for your life isn’t pleasant. It’s a nice attention to detail to both the physical and mental rigours of piloting a mobile suit.

Great mecha fight. Horrible human animations. The crowd animation look like they're made from a real time straregy game infrantry unit. And some animations look like they're pulled from some sort standard 3D templates in Japanese 3D industry since the PS1 era. I know I have seen the dinner scene in the first episode in several other Japamese 3D animations both in movies and game cutscenes.

The first gm was stolen but before the pilot could leave he was found out and was forced to destroy the other two gms near him to prevent the pilots from fighting back. The second gm was taken from a bridge off base slightly and the original plan was to group up and leave with cover from a zaku but the gundam comes out of a hanger and blast the first gm in the back so gm two has to fight to protect gm ones pilot.

@@Alestonnellate Tattoos and colored hair are of course not new to gundam, but it was odd to me that only she was running around like that (out of uniform) while in combat compared to everybody else. But yeah, other folks might see that as woke, when of course there have always been females in the gundam franchise. I only had a problem with it because of how lame much of the story was. Keeping in mind most of those female pilots you listed were edgy and bad ass because of their combat skills with their mobile suits.
