I definitely feel that bro! Lol. You can put your alarm away from your bed so it’ll force you to get up. But that’s definitely the hardest part 😅

Really the two biggest things you are: 1. A structured study strategy that combines reading as well as problem solving & allows you to prepare in advance without burning out 2. Consistency in doing the same amount of work & progression daily There’s really nothing more than that, with those things alone, you will do succeed. Anything else is secondary

Could not agree more JR! Last week I tried waking up at 4:30am every day (video coming tomorrow), and having that time before the rest of the world wakes up is a game changer! I had also written off the Pomodoro technique in the past as I felt I didn't need it, but waking up early paired with Pomodoro meant I had ~4 hrs of focused studying finished before class started for the day.
@EvolvingMedic3 жыл бұрын
That’s such a move bro!! And when you’re done with classes/clinic it’s the best feeling knowing you’ve already put in those 4 hours!

Great video, JR! I am always trying to create good habits. One thing that presents a challenge right now is my work schedule because I work both days and nights (swing shifts). I am hoping by next month I transition to a daylight role which will enable me to wake-up early more consistently. I have always been an advocate when I was in grad school to study in the morning before any other commitment, i'd like to get back to that. Hope 2nd year is going well and it brings me great joy to see you continuing to find success in all facets of life!

@EvolvingMedic3 жыл бұрын
Hey Bethel! There are still days where I’m pretty tired in the morning, but it’s helped that the first thing I do is journal a bit and plan my day instead of studying right away. And usually after I do this, I have more motivation to get to work (and the caffeine has kicked in lol). I also go to bed really early which helps my mornings. I got this helps Bethel!

Hey JR, been following you for a while now and rooting for you and your channel! I’m an M1 and have found myself using Anki has my main study tool. Been doing okay but really think I need to change/add something to get me where I want to be academically. I know you’re a big fan of Anki but do you use or recommend any other supplemental sources? Lecturio? Osmosis?
@EvolvingMedic3 жыл бұрын
Hey Thomas! Thank you so much for your support! I completely understand where you’re coming from. I would definitely use an additional resource to “learn” the material as Anki is mostly for “retaining” what you learn. I love lecturio and you can really learn a lot on that platform. I also use sketchy and boards and beyond as those correspond directly to the Anking deck I use. If you’d like to check out lecturio you can use the discount code “EVOLVINGMEDIC40” for 40% off. I know these resources can be expensive and I’m trying to get them to you guys for as cheap as I can.

Hi Evolving Medic, I keep second guessing myself on the exams( human anatomy and physiology 2). For example, I remember I change couple answers from the right answer to the wrong answer. After I finish the exam, I recognized my first answer was correct, so I had instantly regretted changing my answer. Any tips not to second guessing myself on exams?
@EvolvingMedic3 жыл бұрын
I personally don’t go back and review questions once I finish. So I eliminate any chance for me to second guess answers. The confidence you have with each question also depends on your confidence with the material. If you know you put in a lot of work to learn the material, be confident in your intuition (the first answer that comes to your mind). I hope this helps and good luck in future exams! 🙏🏽

Hey JR, I am a high school student who wants to become a doctor in the future. For me my bus comes at 6am. Do you have any other tips for studying that could help me?
@EvolvingMedic3 жыл бұрын
My biggest tip would just be to develop a routine. This will help you through high school, college and throughout your future medical career. Whether it’s early in the morning before the busy comes, right after school, or after dinner. Just try and find consistency with studying a few hours every day and that will serve you will in the future!

How to stay focus on the online classes?!
@EvolvingMedic3 жыл бұрын
That’s a great question and it’s one of the hardest things to do. You could try watching lecture online at a different location other than your home (like a library or coffee shop) or you can make sure you don’t have any other windows or tabs open. All of this is just to limit distractions, so knowing what distracts you and focusing on removing that will help a lot!
