John Paul was born weighing 1 pound and 12 ounces. He was diagnosed with "Failure to Thrive" and professionals did not know if he would ever have an understanding of the world around him.
At age four John Paul has suddenly made rapid progress. This year he started walking, talking and even enjoys looking at his baby pictures. Now John is ready to tell the world about his favorite toy car.

I don't know how anyone could thumbs down this video . This child is a miracle . And such a sweet spirit he has . You can see the love of life in his eyes. My son was born at 24 weeks 5 days gestation and weighed 1lb 10 oz . He is my world. And I couldn't imagine life without him . He just turned 18 yrs old in September . He is smart just like this little guy is. God has blessed us , hasn't He?

I was born 3 1/2 months premature, weighing about 400 grams along with my twin sister who weighed about 500 grams :) The time after our birth, we had several surgeries and were in the hospital for 3 months, being moved to other hospitals etc, it was really hard for my parents. There were times where they thought I wouldn't make it. my parents were told I'd have to go to a special needs school when I was in kindergarten, but now I've graduated from school and study in university! I wish more awareness would be raised on long-term effects like motor activity and socializing / interpersonal issues I have, though, especially in school. I'm aware I am 'different' from other people, I feel like I experience a lot of sensory overload issues, too.But what I wanna say is, prematurity doesn't determine your life from the start.

@@zoi7871 I'm sorry I don't really have much advice to give to you, because I am not my parents! Plus, a lot can change in 21 years in the medical field. Get lots of contact to your baby, I think being in contact with the parents is one of THE most important things

@@zoi7871 sorry for the late reply, but I often feel overwhelmed by loud noises especially. I get tired and need to go somewhere quiet. I assume that has to do with the loud incubator noises. also, I'm going to therapy now. as an advice, don't be too overprotective of the child and allow it to become independent. my parents sheltered me a lot as a kid and teenager, and now im overly dependent on others and have low self-esteem. even though they're small, premature children and teenagers are just as capable of developing themselves without too much help from their parents as on term born children

I was born prematurely weighing 850 gram, so I know what's like to have some medical challenges. John Paul is amazing and he's such an inspiration. I hope he continues to thrive

Oh my goodness, I was born premature too! I was three and a half months early, and I weighed a pound and a half when I was born! The only thing that's wrong with me is not being able to see! I've got retinopathy of prematurity.

just became a gran for first time yesterday..3Lb.. it will be a while before I even see him as my son lives so far away n only his gf drives. and she's had a c section so everybody is worried..😢 but who knows.

@2a2777f2g Жыл бұрын
C section is important, sometimes it is the only option to safely have the kid, if I had more qualified doctors that would do it to me, my oldest son wouldn't have ADHD now as well as some complications with lungs. I hope that your grandkid is in the care of professionals. I wish the baby all the best.

My nephew became an angel in NICU, these kids (in Russia parents call them Twinkletoes, a cute word for someone who's always in a hurry, it took me a while to find a good English equivalent) are prone to infections, especially before the age of two. I would hug you if I could.
