As mostly a console player, and Nintendo/PlayStation fan, i really hope XBOX keeps on going. It would be a disaster in terms of competition if Microsoft doesn't go on with XBOX. Sony needs competition. With the PS4, they were much more humble. But with the PS5, even though the console in itself is good, everything Sony does, shows a Sony from the PS3 era, where they were very arrogant/cocky. I hope their next CEO is someone who understands gaming and what the gamers want. Not just looking at the numbers... Even though i know that's important on the business side of things of course.

Microsoft definitely will keep going, especially after Activision-Blizzard acquisition. Lots of people said it's not fair but the 10 years should give them enough time to get a foothold, even if cod will be more popular.

I remember in the days, at least they had KillZone and Resistance. But as far as i know they don't have any games like this at the moment. It is good that Microsoft will go on. But i'm a bit skeptical when it comes to consoles. I know they were planning on making a next gen already. But hearing all these rumblings of third party publisher. I mean, it will probably be good for Microsoft, no doubt about that. But for competition sake. I don't know. We'll see i guess.

Only thing I'm excited for Sony is to make interesting unique ips like Stellar Blade and Kena. Kena was their last special gem and I hope there's a sequel. I feel that the Marvel trend would get stale quick

@@rubanm4026 Kena wasn't an IP from Sony though. I do think that Sony has the better exclusives (when compared to XBOX.) If you look at what they have made already. It depends on your taste in games of course. But games like Uncharted, God Of War, Spiderman, The Last Of Us, Ghost Of Tsushima, Horizon Zero Dawn/Forbidden West,... And so many more, It's actually criminal that there are even ip's at this very moment, like inFamous that are sitting there just doing nothing! Meanwhile, Microsoft doesn't really have a lot going for them. I mean sure, they bought whole publishers and developers. Though i think buying up big publishers who have always been third party should've been left alone (but that's again my personal opinion.) I do like that they bought Ninja Theory for example. If you look at the trailers for the sequel of Hellblade, it's amazing what they can do under Microsoft's umbrella with a big cash day! These are the things i'm rooting for on Microsoft's side. I agree that too much Marvel will get tiresome on Sony's side. Though i have to admit that Wolverine does look very cool! But too much "superhero" stuff will get tiresome. We can see that already with the movies.

That’s why there won’t be a pro. People are just assuming. But Sony has deliberately been avoiding a console with different hardware. They literally made 3 different types of ps5’s already with all the same hardware. Sony even made the new PSP that uses the ps5s hardware. 😂 Even if they made a pro that’s as power as the best pc in the world right now it would actually hurt video games more than it would improve, or just not see any improvement at all. The base ps5 hasn’t even been pushed anywhere near its limits; so for a pro model to release would mean that Sony is a fraud for false advertisement of the base ps5’s hardware capabilities.

The PS5 HAS reached its limits, you can only push so many frames and maintain max resolution before something has to drop and the PS5 is not able to do 120/4k everything, it cant even always hit 4k/60fps and that is where the pro comes in, pushing the framerate and resolution to as close to its max as it can maintain which would be considerably higher than whatever the base console is able to push It doesn't matter how good the end of gen games will look the fact is performance in every game out now is not as high as it could be.

There's defiantly a growing market for them, now they've also started to mature.

I agree with you. Around 2 or more years ago I wouldn't even touch one with a 10 foot bargepole. But now I've found myself increasingly tempted into buying one. Like you said, they've come a long way in such a very short time. To the point that some of the Andriod ones can now emulate some Switch games. I also like the thought of having a game console like my old Game Boy or PSP again, that I could just slip into my pocket whenever I go out. Especially one that is able to play 1000's of games, across several systems. I'm currently tempted into either buying a Retriod Pocket 4 Pro or starting off with a cheaper Anbernic RG35XX H, to just see if one suits my lifestyle first.

Yep, the RP4 pro has really peaked my interest in them as well. Some of the cheaper Linux based ones (under $100) also look like they are worth the invesment, if you only want to emulate up to a PSP (includes Dreamcast). BTW, it's also spelt "roid" and not "riod", as in Android and Retroid. And I also had both a PSP and a GBA back in the day and loved the pair of them.

I certainly hope so, but I don't see Nintendo doing it. Remakes and rereleases are simply too lucrative for them. They could charge $70 for Tears of the Kingdom again, but up-res it to 4K 60FPS and millions would buy it again. I'll be happy if they keep the same retro titles from the Switch Online catalog instead of having to build a new library from scratch again.

It has to. The switch is like the second best selling console of all time, so if they want people to upgrade they're gonna need some serious arguments. No back compat would mean it would massively undersell for at least 2 or 3 years.

Going from Wii U to Switch, the loss of back-compat made sense because of how much changed between the platforms (architecture, storage media, human interface, etc.). From what we’re hearing, whatever the next console is will likely have much in common with the current Switch, making a lack of back-compat much harder to justify.

Plenty of people will buy a PS5 Pro if it’s in plentiful supply at the GTA6 launch. Also, if it means that 4K60 on existing games becomes possible across a wide selection of titles. edit: PSVR benefits greatly from this, as well. Also, the price needs to stay within reason. No £600 console will sell in large numbers yet, I’d expect. £500 is a lot, so that would limit the audience, but the £400s can work.

@@Crashed131963 Hopefully in a year's time, considering consoles sell games and FSR3 exists. A million early adopters buying PS5 Pros, means a million PS5s on the used market being picked up by people who may not be able to comfortably afford a PS5 at the current retail or used prices. The used price of a standard PS5 will quickly drop, once a Pro release date is announced. This sells a lot more games and PS Network subscriptions each year, not to mention PSVR headsets. Personally, I only bought an Xbox 360 when the ~£350 Elite model was released, and that only had a larger hard drive and revised internals. It still failed after 3 years before being replaced by MS. Replacement still runs great today. I only bought an Xbox One, once the One X came along, as the original box was much too underpowered for its price. The games simply didn't run well generally, so I wasn't interested. I don't have a PS5, and I'll likely get one in time for GTA VI. If the Pro is out, that's perfect timing unless the price is shockingly high (£600+). Also, that's £500, which is more than $500.

@@FreekHoekstra Who said they were going to double GPU & CPU power. At no point did I say "games that run at 60 will run at 120" I said having more stable games at 60/120 would be great. I.e games that can't run at 60 stable, being able to run stable 60 & games that can't run stable 120, actually being able to do so. Games that with VRR run between 90-110 being able to run at a stable 120 would be great. As for the "it's a meh upgrade". The whole PC community is built on "meh upgrades" every year except they pay the cost of a console if not more, for the increase in GPU power alone. £400-£500 for a pro device that will easily last me another 4 years had my PS5 over 3 years already & it's been amazing) is a great value & a worthwhile update. It's especially worthwhile if it can get more of these UE5 games to run at 60fps or somewhere close to it, but I'm not too sure what the hardware requirement for UE5 @ 60fps would be in a year or two as Devs a re constantly finding ways to optimise the engine.

People were urging to see more 4K; mind you that the base ps4 was not meant for 4K, so both Sony and Xbox made pro models to do 4K. This generation there is only push for 60fps. The ps5 is rated to do 120, so it’s only a matter of if the devs want to make a 60fps game. And the ps5 isn’t even pushed anywhere near its graphical limits so why the need for a pro? Why would Sony release a Pro? - They're dominating sales - We're in a global economic downturn - Microsoft can easily regain the 'power narrative' by making a Xbox 'Pro' - Sony are about to benefit more greatly from reduced manufacture costs of Slim PS5 - The current PS5 is more than capable, two PS5's would only complicate game design for PS5 - PS5 Pro won't magically result in good framerates - The desire for a Pro isn't driven by TV uptake A Pro PS5 would be one Sony's great console mistakes and would instantly be considered an Xbox Win.

I don’t want a PS5pro the original is barely being used properly. And honestly, I don’t need more pixels . We’re not gonna get significantly better frame because there isn’t a significantly better CPU available. The only real thing you could add, is some sort of deep learning super sampling technique. And yes, that would make a big difference. But honestly wait three years and do it properly for the next generation. This wouldn’t be PlayStation 5.5 this would be PlayStation 5.235 which is just not helpful enough.

I was only 50 swedish crowns short but that’s practically all i paid for a 4 days used ps5 disc edition since the old stuff i sold was mostly gifts and stuff that collected dust. Fast efficient CPUS are available and cheap, Ram raised in price but still not expensive, even DDR5. I want AMD to correct GPU market segmentation down to the old slots, as they basically announced with RDNA4. I want a 7900XT for 7800XT prices, anything above 550 is not worth investment in a gpu, whatever the change, whatever the salary. Anything above that is the cheapest used car, and thats a hard wall except you never had to develop a healthy adult relation to money, or youre ugly, desperate and need substitute satisfaction

So you never could get a console and have it for 10 years without feeling you were missing out because you can't afford the newer models.

​@@DeathcoreManiacthe issue was the chip shortage this generation. It didn't make sense to create current gen exclusives yet because so few people owned the new consoles. Only last year have we started to see the generation kick off and this year it will go into full force. But just some games to name that you can play and enjoy on your ps5 now. Demon souls remake , spiderman 2, horizon forbidden west, jedi survivor, dead space remake, baldur's gate 3, returnal, Ratchet and clank rifts apart. Just to name a few. And that is on top of the crossgen games like God of war ragnarok, Resident evil 4 remake, hogwarts legacy etc that look and run significantly better on current gen compared to last gen. Then you also have the last gen games that you can play in backcompat mode at 60fps and higher res, if you haven't played them yet. And even if you have, its a great way to replay them. Something like ghost of tsushima, god of war 2018, the last of us part 1 and 2, the uncharted collection all still are great experiences on ps5. Honestly I will never understand people who say this generation has been bad. I had my ps5 since launch and enjoyed the heck out of it from the start, right up until I built a new pc last year.

Granblue Fantasy Relink February 01,2024, Hell Divers 2 February 8, 2024, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth 2/29/2024, Tomb Raider 1-3 Remastered from the PS2 Era, Rise of Ronin March 22nd, 2024. For pc, trust me when I say you get even better prices. The thing is you have to wait for deals. But the good thing is there are so many deals on steam, so pretty much, don’t pay for games full price unless time is an issue. DS1 goes for extremely cheap on sales.

I am a big PlayStation fan but I haven't got a PS5. I won't be buying one, or a PS5 Pro. I have zero interest in consoles now. I am getting a PC. I was supposed to get one when the PS4 dropped, but I didn't. I had to sit on the sidelines and watch people play cool games on PC. So many streams and YT videos of people playing co-op games having an absolute blast on horrro games and action adventure games. I'm not getting another console just so I can miss out again. I do think that the Pro model should target native 4K with RT with maximum graphics. Anything else would be pointless for. A 90 FPS mode would be cool.

I started feeling the same a long time ago , love PS but consoles just stopped doing It for me anymore , PC Is the way to go. Get a 4080 Super or 4090 FE If you can at MSRP and you're good to go for the rest of this generation. PC takes all the chains off and you're truly free to play games the way you want with advanced features and no compromises and It provides longevity because you can mod every game and make It new again or fix things you don't like about the vanilla version , and the upfront cost Is cheaper longterm when you consider all the extra stuff you have to buy yearly for consoles. 9th gen consoles were too much like 8th gen consoles which were only a half step from 7th gen consoles , none of them feel unique or enough of a generational leap anymore. The lack of substantial generational leaps we used to get with 6th gen on down Is what turned me off consoles , along with diminishing AAA exclusives per year , and an Industry pumping out safe generic games while charging more. I tried one last time with this generation to give PS5/XSX a chance but It's been so mediocre exclusivity-wise It's better to just buy both their best exclusives on PC since most will eventually hit PC later.
