The Harry Potter films are notorious for cutting things that were explained in the novels…but some of these FEEL like they were included because of common knowledge.

Yeah. But that's not the plot point is it? If you go by CoS, you think Tom Riddle senior is just a muggle who had a child with a witch and both his parents are dead. The reader as well as Harry feel there is a thread of similarity between the both Harry and Tom's stories. The real twisted parts of what happened to Tom was completely cut off.

The biggest plothole is that in OotP Harry gets a mirror to communicate with Sirius that breaks but he keeps a piece of it and later in Deathly Hallows realizes that he can communicate with Dumbledore's brother with it, leading to Harry and Co going to him for help. The fact that we never find out how Fred and George get their money for a joke shop; the unnecessary burning down of the burrow in half-bloom prince; the cutting out of the dialogue at the end of deathly hollows between Voldermort and Harry that perfectly sums up why Voldermort is about to die; we never find out about Rita skeeter being an animatics or get the interview portion she does with Harry in order of the phoenix; I could go on for a while.

They literally don’t explain the Marauders in PoA! Harry’s patronus takes the shape of a deer (this one time ever) and there’s just no explanation for that. I'm still furious that in the battle of Hogwarts they didn't show that in the second half of the fight after Harry faked his death that all of the house elves, all of the centaurs from the forest, and all of the residents of hogsmeade rushed in because they believed Harry had died. The death eaters were overwhelmed and that's why a lot of them gave up and left. I wish that they also showed that Voldemort's spells didn't cause pain to anyone because Harry cast the same layer of protection over the people there that his mom gave him by sacrificing himself willingly. Also, they should've shown the main characters who died as they died and lost the fight. That would've been more impactful than just seeing their dead bodies. But suuuure let's all add a bridge blowing up that's not in the books. That's a good substitute
@Dannnnnnni1112 күн бұрын
Also, I hate how in the movies they keep showing spells connecting like Voldemort's and Harry's did in the graveyard and at the final battle. If everyone does that then it's not special and unique. I also hate that people didn't watch Voldemort's and Harry's battle. I hate that he got thanosed. Voldemort's greatest fear was death so its the ultimate punishment that he leaves behind a corpse. If he evaporates then people will speculate whether or not he really died or if he'll come back one day. They created plot holes for no reason.

I cant believe they left Winky (the other house elf, who was framed for casting a dark mark with her master's wand during a quiddich game) out of the movies too, along with the entire S.P.E.W. sub-plot. It was such a fun part of the books, and she was such a wild little side character.

They also took a lot of Hermione's good moments away. We dont get her: -solving snape's potions riddle in movie 1 -prepping Hagrid for Buckbeaks case ALONE while taking extra classes & working herself to tears. All while figuring out lupins secret immediately - her staying up all night teaching Harry accio so he'll survive the dragon. ALONE AGAIN - capturing rita skeeter - blackmailing Skeeter into telling Harry's side of the story in book 5 FOR FREE - she jinxed the page everyone signed to join the DA so they'd know who the snitch was - she created magical coins to hide the DA meetings - she found out Dobby was working at hogwarts - she figured out how Snape was the half-blood prince - SHE CAN READ RUNES - she had the sense to hide Phineas Nigellus' frame at #12 Literally keeping Harry alive since '92😅

The missing personality of Hedwig. She had such a personality, so when we see her protect Harry in Deathly Hallows Part 1 it makes no sense, but if you read the books you know how much of a relationship she and Harry have. Also, Dobby being a free elf with all of his crazy added on pieces of clothing. Or that they sit in the minister of magics box and NOT the nose bleeds at the quidditch world cup. I could literally go on for DAYS over what's not in the movies but are huge from the books.

As someone who hasn't read the books, I'd just like to point out that Hedwig protecting Harry 100% made sense, in my opinion. Although I wish we did get to see MORE or her personality and their bond. That being said, I also know her death was a representation of Harry growing up and losing his child like innocence . At least that's how I interpret it. ❤
@bonniefoley3878 күн бұрын
@@beelee88 in the grander scheme of things, yes it makes sense for the story telling. What I am meaning is why she chose to save Harry. In the films because of the lack of personality and bonding shown, you don't really get that she adores Harry and loves him SO MUCH that she is willing to give her life for him. That's what I meant by doesn't make sense. It's sad how forgotten in the films she is, because in the books she has quite the personality.

Why there were so few casualties in the final battle of the last book. The reason in the book is because Harry sacrificed himself out of love and because of that all the good People are protected from evil. In the book this is so beautiful because Harry walks through the battle with the invisibility cloak and sees everything. After which he and Voldemord duel in the middle of the hall where everyone can see him. I think it's such a shame that that scene wasn't used for the films.

The Dumbledore/Grindelwald relationship is a big one, plus Ariana's death. It's how Albus becomes cursed by the ring, after all, which says so much about him. Even a century later, his grief still overwhelms him into doing something incredibly foolish, but still relatable. I understand why it's not in the films, but hot diggity, those moments where Dumbledore is humanised are rare and precious.

In Prisoner of Azkaban, the movie doesnt take 5 seconds to explain that Lupin, Peter, Sirius and James are Moony, Wormtail, Padfoot and Prongs and that they wrote the map and that 3 of them were illegal animagi, which also explains the significance of Harry's patronus. We are expected to guess all of that from the fact that Lupin knows its a map, Sirius being the Grim and Scabber becoming Peter, when it would have taken 10 seconds to clear all of that up. I loved the Shrieking Shack sequence in the book, loved the chapters and chapters of back story (really fitting for a 3rd installment as they say in Scream 3). But in the movie, it was so rushed and ruined it.

I think the biggest loss is Harry and Ginny's relationship throughout the series. The 'Half-Blood Prince' film just makes it seem like they randomly came together, when in reality they grew close to one another over time. The films also leave out just how powerful and dependable Ginny really was. She was, perhaps intentionally, a new Lily.
@meggston69017 күн бұрын
They changed something that ruined the whole plot of all the movies. In the movie Snape begs Dumbledore to hide all three potters. In the book Snape begs Voldemort to spare just Lily while killing Harry and James. Voldemort offering Lily her life and her refusing is the reason that Harry was protected. Following that though Movie Voldemort never would have offered Lily that choice, she was a mud blood, he would have killed her without thought, and if he intended to kill all three of them, it would have probably just worked.

For me it’s the 2 way mirror. In the books, Sirius gives Harry a mirror that he can talk to Sirius through as he has the other one. When Sirius dies he breaks the mirror in his trunk. A year later mundungus ransacks Sirius’s house and sells all his stuff including the mirror, we see him sell items to “the owner of the hogs head” which we later discover is actually dumbledores brother. And in the last book Harry finds the shard in his trunk and aberforth, dumbledore’s brother, helps Harry by using the mirror. THE MOVIE ON THE OTHER HAND DOESNT HAVE ANY OF THIS!!! Sirius didn’t give Harry a mirror, Harry didn’t break a mirror, we never see mundungus sell anything to aberforth, the very first time we see the mirror is in deathly hallows when it is already broken and what makes things even more confusing is that when Harry gets to the hogs head in part 2, the shard fits perfectly into the mirror that aberforth has. Why on earth would he have a piece of a mirror that doesn’t belong to Harry and belongs to a man he has never met?!!!!

The importance of the radio in the Deathly Hallows. They have a couple scenes in the movies where the radio is prominant and its nearly alwasy playing but its never explained why. The reason it is always playing is because the Weasley twins and Lee Jordan are using a radio show to secretly keep Harry, Ron, and Hermione updated on what is happening during the war. They never mention that Harry's invisibility cloak is the third Deathly Hallow. There are two movies called "Harry potter and the Deathly Hallows", and they don't bring up Harry Potters Deathly Hallow. Short Historical Side Note: The mustache man was not actually part Jew. Longer Historical Side Note: That is a long-standing rumor that there is no actual evidence for. It started because no one knows who his paternal grandfather was. The mustache man's paternal grandmother was a cook who supposedly worked for a wealthy Jewish family. In an effort to stop him, or at least cause doubt for his followers, his nephew had written him a letter stating he was going to out mustache man and reveal that his paternal grandfather was the Jewish boss (or the 19 yr old son) his grandmother had worked for. Historians have researched this possibility and have concluded that it is not true... Primarily because the family his grandmother worked for was not actually Jewish and there were no Jews in the area since the 15th century. Additionally, noone of Jewish descent returned to the region until decades after the birth of mustache man's father.

She used the love potion on Tom Riddle Senior and was feeding him with it for months and he was basically magically coerced to marry Merope and was under love potion influence when she got pregnant (so magically rufied I guess). At some point she stopped giving him the potion thinking he will truelly fall in love with her but it didnt happened and he got up and left and she gave birth to Voldie and died. *there is also theory it was lot love potion but imperius curse

Wait wait wait. Did you just imply the angry mustache man was part jewish?

It's a common myth that people like to repeat despite there being no truth to it.

Do American potter fans say philosophers stone or sourcearors stone theses days?

I personally default to Sorcerer’s stone 😅. Even Full Metal Alchemist couldn’t change that

I’m not 100% sure but I think your profile picture violates the Geneva Convention because it displays a Red Cross. You might wanna look into changing it cuz I’m pretty sure it’s a federal offense

People have to quit bringing up the myth of the angry mustache man being jewish. It's simply not true.

1:37, for what it’s worth, it’s never actually been proven that Hitler had a Jewish grandfather. Hitler’s father Alois Schikelgruber was born of wedlock to a single mother and no one knows who his father actually was so he might have been Jewish but he could just as easily not have been Jewish

(Never read the books) But really, I still feel like there was such a lot of details glossed over that was just assumed that the viewer would know. Like the movies were made just for people who read the books. Didn’t help that the Deathly Hallows (1 & 2) WERE SO DAMNED BORING!! I started to completely zone out during them, I don’t think I could even follow along, and then introduction of so many characters all at once, most of whom I had absolutely no idea who they were, but the movie portrayed them as though they were known, important characters. But I was left like “Who Are these people and why should I care that they’re here to die for Harry?”

I dont like the movies for these reasons. They are objectively terrible as adaptations. Goblet of Fire being the absolute worst.

Books 1-3 are smaller in size. So, not much could've been left out. But from Book 4 and so on, they would've been 6 hour movies tho😁
