Nooooo. I struggle to fit in a 75 minute podcast as it is. I mean if they wanted to do longer podcasts, then perhaps they could utilise them as a patreon reward for those who want 2 hr podcasts. I can't see the point in extending the time if it's only for 15 minutes, and extending to 2hrs would take a hefty amount of their time.

Gonna hard disagree on the "streaming games is the future" stance. It might be fine for content creators or people who pick up and drop games 50 times a year. But the day I can't own a system and own the games to play on it, is the day I'm not buying them.
@jacobgame2757

Its hard to get a disk of a PC game anymore, which is sad. The Hats said it was to make it easier to buy games, I think its more that you can share disks, you can't share digital copies of games. Thus more sales.

Personally I've got no interest at all in a "streaming only" console AKA rental service. It's just a way to milk consumers while giving them less, in my view. Fast forward a few years and Google decide to shut down Stadia, kiss goodbye to all your games. No used games either. Oh, and if you lose your job or something, you can't play your games anymore. No thanks.

@@tcrime Yeah but you are essentially comparing a new game with a used game, as a digital copy will be equivalent to a new copy, no possible physical issues. I will be even more happy if they have varying prices to just have the game for a certain amount of time (1 week, 1 month, 3 months, all at varying prices). I don't even buy physical copies as it is, because I only play most games for a short period of time before letting them gather dust on the shelf.

Keanu is marketable (see: interesting) because he's kind and down-to-earth. There's been enough interviews of him and enough of his own actions to show this, so seeing that - coming from John Wick and Neo - in a Hollywood climate plagued by people ranging from a clown president to Weinstein is, as you can expect, mildly revitalizing. People respond well to him. That popularity is deserved, no, *earned.* He's also the sort of person that doesn't really "diminish in personality," whatever that's supposed to mean. It's not like he's pandering a Mountain Dew Gamefuel next to Activision's 68th release of Call of Duty while writing a $40 million check to an oil company; he's in one game and fucking Toy Story. If two appearances by a genuinely refreshing celebrity is enough to get people aimlessly worried, then I think they severely misrepresent exactly what's going on. Actor takes acting jobs and is also a great person. More news at 11.

I think that Ross and Smith are wrong about people not wanting to actually own their own copy of the games they want to play on a hard copy. Especially since the streaming model of games a) limits the amount of potential players in rural environments or countries were internet connections are not as dependable; and b) makes it so that the company, business, etc. that own the platform in which the game is streamed on can ban someone from using their platforms whenever they violate/"violate" they're terms and conditions. If/when that happens, the person who payed money for the right to play the game on their platforms (because when they stream they don't technically own a copy of the game itself just the right to play it) can not play it at all; even if the game itself does not require the user to be online in order to play it, they still need to be online to play the game they want to play. I'm not saying whether or not a ban like this has/hasn't happen to someone who deserved to be banned from the platform they wish to play on, I just want the security of at least owning my own copy of the game with a potential to either play it again or at the very least be able to get something back for it. And I'd like to imagine that some others share my skepticism. If you disagree and think that streaming will be a very stable and fine way for the future of gaming or think that its simply the inevitable outcome and don't care one way or the other, I hope your right and I'm worrying about nothing.
@threemoo
@threemoo 5 жыл бұрын
Who cares about bans.. Streaming only completely removes any chance for *anyone* being able to play the game after the Devs or the Streaming Platform decide to shutdown that game. It's literally like buying a game and in 3 years time the MIB come to your door, take away your copy of the game, and denuralise you so that game no longer exists! If this was the case 10 years ago, nobody would be playing Oblivion, nobody would be playing Mario 64, nobody would be playing games of the past because you wouldn't have access to them at all. This is the most dangerous thing to ever happen to gaming and it's gonna be deadly for all the millions of games that use it, since those games are automatically given a deadline for when they will no longer be possible to get or play.

threemoo the people who get banned for no reason care about bans?
@rdizzy1
@rdizzy1 5 жыл бұрын
@@evaahh9584 People rarely get banned for absolutely "no reason"from these games. I've been playing games, especially online games for over 2 decades, and have never even been banned, let alone for "no reason". There is usually a reason, and people are full of shit or just straight up lying. Now if you want to argue that terms of service for certain games may be too broad, or strict, sure, but usually, in some manner or another, people break TOS (usually multiple times) and then get banned. So if we only count legitimate people that have been banned for absolutely no reason, then only a few people must care.
@threemoo

Just wanna highlight that not being able to play the games *EVER AGAIN* after the companies simply decide that they don't want to support them even for single player only games... Is kinda a more pressing issue than Bans... Any bans.

I've seen alot of people make the same mistake about the Bauldurs gate 3 trailer, the game people talk about is "Bauldurs gate - dark alliance" thats not what bauldurs gate really is. I guess it must be more popular since so many people make that mistake. Dark alliance is a diablo-ish game where as the "real" Bauldurs gate is whats called a crpg, isometric view, you control up to six characters and its alot more tactical combat than it is a action rpg. hope this will clear up some future confusion.

The "reason they couldn't port the original source files" for FF8 is because they literally lost the original source code. Square actually loses shit like that ALL THE TIME, and they aren't the only ones. Some of the old Nintendo games on their online store are literally ROMs they downloaded, because they didn't have the data themselves.

I recently got back into oldschool runescape, and the geniune experience of a good solid game has kept me there, it's the only game ive been playing, save for some time wasters on my phone. It was the constant bullshit coming from big game developers, just the sheer amount of terrible games that cost too much and have too little content, that brought me back to a game i knew was solid. I'd reccomend that anyone who's also fed up with AAA bullshit should also check it out, you can get 2 weeks of free membership for making an account on mobile (which can be used for either pc or mobile, its the same account and same everything, just with the optional ease of phone play)

The whole Xbox Scarlet thing is a super over-advertised load of horse shit. 8K? 120FPS? 4K@60FPS? Ray-Tracing? Bullshit. The current top-of-the-line PC GPU's struggle to do those things properly and they cost upwards of £500. So, unless Microsoft plan on making the new Xbox £800, it's not going to happen and it's gonna be an extremely watered down version of what they say OR completely unreliable. For reference, the Xbox One X has the equivalent of a GTX 980Ti / GTX 1070 in it and struggles to get 30FPS at checkerboarded (fake) 4K. The only logical next upgrade would be a GTX 2060 which provides a barely visible RTX capability, the same performance as a 1070Ti and absolutely not a playable framerate at checkerboarded 8K or even true 4K. AMD absolutely wont be able to properly compete with NVIDIA's top-tier cards and so that leaves me with even less confidence too since they're the ones providing the GPU's for Sony+Microsoft.

There will be a market for both streamed and physical games. One will not replace the other. 1) There will always be latency for streamed games, so for any potential console esport titles, like Smash or whatever, that's simply out of the question; 2) Streamed games require internet. People play (or could want to play) games offline. 3) Even if Smith decrees that "people are over ownership," people still love ownership, and will want to own physical copies along with any goodies contained within, including collectors editions. 4) A subscription service may seem easy for privileged people or people that enjoy them, but many people can't or won't subscribe to (additional) services, especially if it becomes cost-ineffective in the long-term.

BotW was a garbage Zelda and outside of that market it has to compete in an RPG market where it's concepts are almost 2 decades behind the curve. The whole point of a Zelda is starting with crap and building up your arsenal of weapons and gadgets. The whole concept is destroyed when equipment become destroyable without any way to repair or some expensive ritual to make unbreakable equipment. You avoid enemies in a Zelda when you don't have the equipment to beat them yet, you don't avoid them because they're going to break too many of your weapons and all you'll get back or some clubs. Not only is that a concept that doesn't work in a Zelda, it doesn't work in any RPG. There isn't a single RPG that makes you use so much resources on a pack of enemies and give you nothing worthwhile in return. Because it's simply bad design. You don't make a game where players feel punished by playing the game. You don't make a game where players are so heavily punished or completely unrewarded for playing the game. Even in a roguelike where you lose everything you had when you die, you still want to take the risks because it will allow you to be stronger after the sacrifice. In BotW you simply sacrifice and end up worse equipment. It's like they only test their game with dev cheats on or using 50 RFID cards spamming shit into their world constantly.
