Lamar Jackson entered the Baltimore Ravens’ road matchup against the San Francisco 49ers with a golden opportunity to boost his odds for the 2023 NFL MVP award, and he ended up doing just that.
Jackson put together an efficient outing against the 49ers, logging a 105.9 passer rating and a 6.4 yards per rush attempt average. He also anchored seven scoring drives in the contest.
Some have argued that Jackson, who is now the betting favorite to win the 2023 NFL MVP award, should not be the front-runner for the honor because he has not posted video game-like numbers this year. The one-time NFL MVP award winner currently sits outside the top five in total touchdowns, passing yards, and passer rating.
Pro Football Hall of Fame tight end Shannon Sharpe sees that while Jackson has not been recording eye-popping stats on a regular basis this season, the sixth-year passer should still be the favorite for the league’s most prestigious individual honor.
"Lamar Jackson is not going to have the most gaudy numbers," Sharpe said during a recent appearance on ESPN's "First Take" program. "He's not going to have 35 touchdown passes, another 10 or 11 touchdowns rushing. He's not going to have the season statistically that he had when he won the award in 2019, but I don't believe we should hold that against him.
"He did to San Francisco the unthinkable, we didn't think that was even possible."
Jackson has tallied 24 total touchdowns through 15 games played this season.

Only person close to Lj impact is allen in performing and making plays plus he has the stats they keep whining about in terms of number of td passes. But if it was lamar in Allen position with his team underperforming and having to fight along with Allen turnovers being a reason why..Lamar wouldve been out the conversation long-ago. The only defense you can give Sherman is that he thinks the MVP MUST have huge stats. He calls this "the facts of the matter". How many TD's did he throw when the Ravens rushed for 298 and three TD's and Huntley came in late against the Seahawks? They won by 34 so the stats don't matter. The receivers left at least two TD's on the field against the Steelers. Lamar and the Ravens are playing great football and are winning and that's what matters.

Nah this is BIG CAP when you talking about Shannon Sharpe lol. Even in the clips you posted, none of that was hating even remotely. They were very valid critiques. Lamar early on was inconsistent with his throwing accuracy and averaged too many turnovers in key moments. It's obvious when you're good, but to be great we almost have to nitpick at times because damn near everyone in the NFL is "good" or else they wouldn't be there. You literally disregarded every clip of Shannon praising Lamar's progression over the years to highlight valid critiques that Lamar actually did fix that has put him in the place he is at currently and you called it hating.
