Brings back great memories of listening to my 6 transitor radio tuned into CFOX, Dean Hagopian, or, Dave Boxer, CFCF. That is Dean Hagopian announcing The Haunted.

Fantastic! I heard the cover version by The Fuzztones a few years back and thought it was great. I then found the the original by The Haunted and was just blown away! It's a real gem, great song. Makes me smile just to hear it.

I discovered these guys watching an old video (really, a filmed promotional reel. It was the 60s after all.) I was blown away. The garage sound back in the day was something I'd never really given a chance. But, man, it had EVERYTHING! Blues, rock, great vocals! It was an amazing time for you guys lucky enough to have lived through it. I envy you. (By the way, I'm not Canadian. It just came up when I was looking up 60s rock one night in a KZbin search. You guys up north have a LOT of talent living there.)

The Haunted, The Rabble, Our Generation, The Staccatos and a lot of French Canadian bands that were equally good (Les Classels, etc). We had lots of good local music.

I got turned onto this track on Pebbles 1 ca. 1978-79 and now own both the original 45 and the LP in Mint condition after much searching. This is simply the high bar for grungy 60's garage with snotty vocals and stinging guitar. As a vinyl collector for 50 yrs and a vinyl-only DJ, playing this loud on a decent stereo still gets the pulse moving. For those who don't have the LP or the singles, there is other killer stuff. These guys were the real deal. Check out Searching for my baby, which I also have on a mint 45 and DJ with regularly: kzbin.info/www/bejne/gIiQdol5q8iAl8U Wish I had seen their reunion gig!

@tundratunes Ditto re Pebbles/Nuggets. l agree about the high bar - l could name any number of 60s ‘Grounded’ The Syn, ‘Save My Soul’ Wimple Winch, ‘War or Hands of Time Master’s Apprentices’, ‘Once Before’ The Remains, 80s revival ‘Get Along Girl’ The Sick Rose, ‘25Th Hour’ Lime Spiders, ‘One Step Closer to You’ Miracle Workers, and contemporary 60s punk etc. 1-2-5 absolutely nails it - to me it’s the quintessential psych song. And with that wild harmonica doing what keyboards would generally do. A couple of friends and l would collect obscure 60s psych in the early 8os, taking mixed tapes to parties, replacing the stuff being played, and lifting the f*cking roof off…we thought that we were so cool! We had such a good time getting people up and moving! What would a few of your other top toons be? And Re the vinyl, the setup that we have - vintage gear from second-hand shops & restored by a guy we know and with my partner’s grandparents’ speakers housing serious new gear - really rocks!

why 1-2-5 is it the number of a bus line in montreal
@aryanscience3 жыл бұрын
125 is the airline numerical reference for British Airways,,Perhaps a nod towards British rock.
@josephskyrie3 жыл бұрын
@@aryanscience no way they are a band from Montreal in the 60 s and never had money for planes,the song seems to be about a guy who with his 5 dollar bill had enough $ to get laid...the 125 bus line passed thru the heat of montreal....who knows great song
