40:49 to the best of my knowledge, this is the only place on the Internet where the whole 25-1 montage lives.

Wilbon was absolutely wrong regarding the awareness of the game against the Soviets. People in New England and Upper Midwest absolutely knew about the game. My buddies and sports fans in my office started paying attention starting with the Czechoslovakia game. By the USSR game most sports fans were aware of the possibility of winning Gold. The Gold Medal Game drew about 30 Million US viewers.

Some blatant falsehoods in this piece hockey wise. There were probably 6-8 players on this USOHT that were thought to have the clear potential to have good to very good careers ahead of them. What camouflaged there potential to a degree was a combination of two of them having late birth dates in his draft year and the NHL Drafting two birth years instead of one in 1979. Ken Morrow was born in 10\56 which meant he was one of the youngest kids in the 1976 NHL Draft and was only a Freshmen at Bowling Green. Most NCAA players were born earlier in 1956 and were Sophomores at their NCAA School. So their was an adjustment period for him as a Freshmen. Neal Broten and Dave Christian were part of the 1979 draft where two birth years were drafted. Broten and Christian were drafted in the 3rd round but would have been a 2nd round pick if just 1959 birth years were drafted. As an example their US Olympic teammate Mike Ramsay was a 1960 birth year and taken in 1st round ahead of them. Ray Bourque was the same as Ramsay. Now Steve Christoff was taken in the 2nd round of the 1978 draft where just players born in 1978 were picked. Ramsey, Morrow, Broten, Johnson and Christoff were all players who were aside from several troglodyte Canadian NHL GM's, projected to have NHL careers. The only question was whether they would be top 6F or top 4D. In fact in the pipeline from the US were Chelios, Carpenter, Housley, Barrasso, Lafontaine and Stevens whom were all in HS during the 1979-80 season, though Barrasso, Lafontaine and Stevens were in 9th grade. Brian Lawton was in 9th at Mount St. Charles also. All the New England kids coming in the pipeline were part of The Orr boom.

The USSR was prime to be upset in the 1980 Medal Round. Finland had a lead in the 3rd period of the Round Robin portion of the Olympics and Canada had a lead in their USSR Game I believe.

Actually the chant "U.S.A." can be heard at the 1972 Olympic Basketball final.

It was @Innsbruck also. Can hear it at least once in game against USSR.
