Joey Kocur is the guy that seems to have really come out on top in regards to the great Enforcers of the 90's. He looks good, speaks well and carries and to see him in some of thesse interviews you would never guess he was one of the fiercest fighters ever. It's good to see.

A great player and amazing human being. I remember as a kid, one of my best friends lived across the street from Steve's parents in bells corners. When he would come home to visit he would play road hockey with us and the other neighbourhood kids. Even as an NHL'er. Thank you for the memories!

Yzerman was the sexiest guy on the ice, absolutely beautiful, and one of the best players in NHL history. (All class) I’ll never forget the days of Yzerman, Bob Probert and Joey Kocur, it was absolutely amazing & such a joy to watch. #RIPBobProbert24 🏒 #BruiseBrothersForever 🇨🇦

I am not a Red Wings fan, but I will say this. There are several people in sports who have the nickname "The Captain." As far as I am concerned, Steve Yzerman is "The Captain." He is the embodiment of everything you want a leader to be.

Great post! It's interesting to me that Detroit has been blessed with TWO professional athletes who exemplify what you have outlined. Both Yzerman and Barry Sanders stand - even today - as perfect examples of selfless leadership!

Great hockey player with a great passion for the game. I have had the privilege of watching him play his entire time playing the game. He may be the greatest wing of all time. Now he is back in Detroit as the GM and the story is still being written. Good Luck Stevie.

Yzerman played in the era of so much high scoring that he found himself in the 2nd tier point discussion behind Greyzky, Messier, Kuri. Not much publicity, praise, or adulation for Steve was offered but thankfully his strong persona didn’t waver, he just kept his nose down in the grindstone, grinding out year after frustrating year of the revamping of the Wings till they were ready to make a push in the mid 90’s.

The guy has most points in a season not named Gretzky or Lemieux and later changed his game to be a more complete player in order to get a chance to win. If that's not leadership, I don't know what is.

steve sherman was the greatest two way player ever in hockey. He was the Larry Bird of hockey-versatile, two way, leadership, etc. whatever you needed he could give you and made everyone on the team better. No offense to gretzky and LeMieux, but if I'm picking first in a pick up game Im picking sherman as he will be able to compensate for bad picks down the line. yzermab was a better defensive asset and face off guy than either. in any event, he has to be in the top five of anyones GOAT list.

@devonpeters56554 жыл бұрын
Tom Bois I’m a lifelong Wings and Yzerman fan, but would you say he’s better than Gretzky? Or even Gordie Howe (I could see that)?
@oldvet26394 жыл бұрын
Well Devon i have to admit as a former season ticket holder from 1970 to 2010 i am biased. That said Yzerman was a better all round player than Gretzy. Gordie is the best of all time. My point is find a better 2way player than Yzerman. Just an opinion from a 71 yr old man that actually played the game in the late sixties thru the 70s. I also now live in the Tampa area and i love that Stevie has returned to Detroit. Go Wings
@devonpeters56554 жыл бұрын
Tom Bois For sure. I agree he was a better defenseman, and of course have to respect your opinion with all that you shared. I would’ve liked to have seen Gordie play and am a little jealous you got to see the Wings on a regular basis for 4 decades. That’s great! And regardless, I still one hundred percent believe he was the best captain of all time. I grew up watching them when living in Detroit, and I know every player would’ve gone to war for him. I think he’s one of the most underrated players as well. I am also happy he’s back in Detroit. It just “right”, and I’m looking forward to seeing his impact on the team again. All the best to you!

@michaeltarnow66834 жыл бұрын
Started playing hockey in lambertville Michigan I had a home and away #19 lol....what frustrates me with the red wings today is they dont shoot the puck on the offensive rush they need to shoot and crash they hold the puck too long then they turn over in the offensive zone and give up far too many odd man rushes they are a good team regardless of there record they get wins against strong teams ... I just wish they would take more shots on goal from in between the circles and the blue line its killing them!!!!
