That first poem is certainly of an era. I remember how personally offended people used to get at the very idea of vegetarianism.

Hi Lindy, I was thinking of you when I saw this poem. I don't know about offended but it was certainly seen as strange in the US. And the smoking inside a restaurant was very normal until maybe ten years ago in the US. Aloha friend
