If you're just skipping straight to the boss fight, firstly *shame on you lol* and secondly, please skip to 41:14 first for an explanation. Thank you for watching, and please know that you are not alone. Your trauma is valid no matter what you've been through and I love you.

Of all the parts to have to repeat, it had to crash on Abstract Daddy. The remake went all out on this boss battle as the original was essentially one creepy room with pistons, flesh walls and Abstract Daddy. Here, they expanded it into a multi-part chase sequence and really hammer home the direness of the situation.

Honestly, I'm almost glad I had to play it over. It gave me the chance to really look around the multiple rooms and take it all in. So well done.

41:14 that sucks that the recording was lost, but thanks for persevering and doing it again. I think it's time to upgrade your computer. I've always imagined to be a bit old and barely held together with twine and dust.

HI,Katie, looking forward to checking out more silent hill, but i just want to say, in life is strange i loved the way you read diamonds letter to moses and your reaction to the pretend date at the bar it make me actually laugh for real it was so good, i'm looking forward to watching this video along with all of the future uploads as always, all the best to you and all the pets Katie!, i just watched and i'm glad you go through the rough part and all i can say is i hope you don't have to deal with a scenario like that in a game ever again but you did a fantastic job in defeating the boss, i honestly thought when james went towards the noose i thought we were going to get a huge curveball out of left field that would not be good, i honestly have never played a silent hill game before ,i'm more into resident evil but i am loving this playthrough so far Katie!

The fan could be a refrence to Twin Peaks, a big influence on SH as a series. In that show, when a certain character would be regularly assaulted, the attacker would turn on a loud hallway fan to obscure the noises. Dark shit.

The Abstract Daddy segment in this game is far more repulsive and heavy than the OG version of the game, which I initially never thought was possible. Bloober absolutely hit a home run with their modern take on it, and it really helps to further highlight the seriousness of Angela’s trauma.

I feel like the original didn't quite do as good a job with the Abstract Daddy section. The Remake made that whole section far more visceral and a lot heavier than the original. The walls weren't sheets though, it was stitched skin, which left me feeling almost sick when i realized it on my playthrough.

This game poses a very interesting question about what constitute fun in videogames, because in a classical sense there is nothing fun about Silent Hill, it's super depressive, oppressive and dark, and yet playing through this game is one of the best experiences one can have.

idk if you’re an oldschool movie buff but angelas boss fight in both remake and original, evoked alot of the movie videodrome (created by cronenberg) for me. at least visually and in a surreal dream/nightmare kind of way. the breathing flesh walls are incredibly reminiscent of that movie.
@archerjordan3695
@archerjordan3695 Ай бұрын
idk if you noticed but, in between the phases of the abstract daddy boss fight, the environment became increasingly more inaccessible n decrepit to show how unsafe angela felt in her home n over time, she felt she couldn't go anywhere to get away. i didn't realise that was the reason in my playthrough, i js thought it became that way bc the boss kept bursting through walls n stuff. js makes this section more heartbreaking knowing that information imo.

I won’t spoil anything g for you, but I’ll say this: keep analyzing everything, the surroundings, characters, events, monsters, sounds, EVERYTHING. The answers to your questions are all around you, and there is a point sometime in the future that everything will come together. And I think playing the original is a good idea, if you don’t mind that it’s a little dated. With what you’ll uncover by the end of the game, another playthrough, even in the original will only enhance the experience you get with silent hill 2. It was a classic for a reason! and coming from someone who is a massive fan of both the original and remake, the abstract daddy fight is one of the most impactful changes made in the remake. It’s in the original, but the way they enhanced it is both wonderful, and deplorable at the same time. And don’t worry about the tech issues; things happen. I still eagerly await your next video!!!
@Shad0wmoses
@Shad0wmoses Ай бұрын
this remake did a phenomenal job with the boss. the original was less intense. id say it was more subdued and i did like the moving “piston” bits of the og but overall this new one adds so many things that make the fight so intense. i like that as you progress through the fight the world is slowly is slowly changing. and im not talking about physically seeing a transformation in the walls as you look at it. instead the changes happen as you are going between doors and hallways. for me it was a nice decision to do it that way.

Hey Katie, sucks that your recording got lost, but it’s all good! Sometimes this stuff just happens. Still really enjoying the playthrough! Quick point I wanted to clarify, in that recording when Angela’s dad says “You’re hurting me! Stop it!”, you responded saying he was playing the victim. I believe that moment is supposed to be Angela stabbing him with the knife. He was a shitty person so he probably did play the victim and emotionally manipulate Angela, but in that specific moment I think Angela is going at him with a kitchen knife.
@KatiePlaysStuff
@KatiePlaysStuff Ай бұрын
Ohh that does make sense. I imagined it as her just playing back all of the guilt trips and gas lighting she experienced over the years from him, but that definitely makes sense if she was stabbing him at that moment!

I don't want to give you any spoilers but just know that you'll discover Eddie's trauma soon enough. Also, something you should keep in mind for future nurse encounters: no matter which type you fight (the lead pipe wielders, or the knife wielders), make sure they drop their weapon. If they fall but are still holding on it, they're not dead and they'll be getting back up.
@KatiePlaysStuff

I couldn’t not comment on this one, you’re one of my favourite channels playing one of my most favourite games. I think the original and especially the remake (with this section) do a really good job juggling monsters, classic horror and real life trauma. It’s something that could so easily feel cheap and cruel, but with the design, storytelling and incredible VAs, you feel so intensely for Angela and her story. I hope that although it’s obviously highly triggering subject matter, that at least there’s some catharsis for people who relate to Angela, and that the gameplay is confronting and challenging for those who don’t at first. You did a really good job with it all. I rewatch your cat lady let’s play once a year, it’s crazy that so many people still disregard gaming as a medium, there are some real pieces of art out there, thank you for sharing them. x

Bloober went ham with the Abstract Daddy fight in the remake. In the original, it was unnerving, but short, and a lot was left up to interpretation. Mostly just Angela’s dialog after the fight let you know what it was all about.
