Anyone blaming Williams for the Bears failures need to check their expectations. The kid is a rookie. Just bc he is picked first doesnt mean he'll revive a franchise in a single season. He has more potential than any Bears QB in the last 30 years, possibly ever. The problem is the Mahomes effect. You get an abnormal situation where a kid comes in and balls out and everyone now wants to see that kind of immediate success. Patience in the NFL is gone. Its win now or get to the door. This is lunacy. There isnt a QB in the league that could lead the Bears to the playoffs rn with this horrible line, not a single one. Caleb is that dude, he is part of a mess that is the Bears organization and he has made plays that atteibuted to losses, but to say he has more blame than any other player is an absurd, elementary manner of thinking.

Since most people don’t watch tape nor know how to watch tape here you go: Week 17 Caleb review Sacks- 4 Caleb’s fault and 2 on the OL/blocking Missed/skipped/late reads- 10! Drive1: -2&1, nice check down to Swift -2&5, Wright overset and allowed 10 a free run at Caleb who got a nice chip from Swift but force otp for throw away -3rd&5, Caleb had 2 open hot reads but was late to Allen and short. Allen should have caught it Drive2: -3rd&6, Rome settled but should have kept running (incomplete) vs cover-2 deep middle Drive3: -2&7, Caleb stepped into the SACK for no reason. Had wide open check down to swift with a lead blocker in Johnson -2&10, Kmet and Keenan both wide open and settled vs zone. Caleb passed on both and got pressured at 3.5+ second mark. Throw away Drive4: -2nd&3, Caleb again has over 3 seconds before trying to scramble and takes SACK instead of taking a quick check down for 10+ and calling a TO. Would have left 6-7sec for hailmary attempt or sideline throw for FG Drive5: -3rd&9, blitz off right (5-man), pressure gets to Caleb right at 3 sec. Had Allen underneath for about 5 and Kmet for a 1st down on a late release. Took hit/SACK instead Drive6: -1st&10(:24 in 3rd), exotic blitz cause miscommunication on the line for a SACK rather than throw. Not on Caleb but he could have zipped it out to swift, thrown it away, or not retreated for a 14 yard sack -2nd&24, Caleb threw into double coverage which would have been most likely picked. Batted at the line. Had DJ who he skipped over in the progression and Rome wide open in a clean pocket Drive7: -2nd&9, Caleb panicked and dirted a screen. 2 lead blockers and 10+ yards before the next defensive player. Swift looked visibly annoyed with Caleb -3rd&9, zone blitz was picked up well but Caleb panicked and stepped up into the SACK. Had Allen wide open for a 1st down Drive8: -4th&inches, this is a reference to Caleb’s mistakes but what a play to DJ for the 1st -1st&10 (2:05 in 4th), Caleb drops the snap and is SACKed. Pressure arrives in under 3 sec. -3rd&14, Caleb shows talent on conversion -1st&10 (:38 in 4th), Caleb had Kmet wide open over the middle for 10+ but holds it for 3.5 sec before getting pressured and throws it away -2nd&10, Caleb gets upset over calling TO but the coach saved him from a delay of game. No one was set with less than 2 seconds left. On the actual play, it was a great throw and WR choice. Rome should have turned for back shoulder not over the shoulder -3rd&10, bad accuracy and choice throwing into triple coverage. 3 man route on max-pro but Allen had 1on1 -4th&10, DJ beat his guy for game winning TD but Caleb held it too long on a know free runner play. Hit as he threw

I don’t think he’s a bust by any means but he does have some blame here. The coaching and organization is and has been absolutely atrocious. But a lesser version of this team and a lesser QB won more games last year. Also the reason they throw so many check downs and screens is because he can’t throw the ball down the field accurately. Anything passed 10-15 yds is not going to be accurate at least consistently. This is also why his interceptions have been down too since the beginning of the year. He does have flashes for sure so we’ll have to wait and see. But everyone bears responsibility in this situation, with most of the blame on coaching.

Totally agree. Even something like that bad snap and how he was able to make a play. The special is clearly there. No doubt.

@ yea that bad snap was also an INSANE play. How many QBs are going to do that? Not many

You’ve got to listen to this link. Ryan Poles was asked about why they cannot get off to quick starts at the beginning of games and his answer was “this was something that was an issue at training camp” Like WTF!!! This has been a whole year of them knowing that this was an issue before the season and they still cannot figure it out!!! And we expect Caleb to be successful hahahahahaha wow man wow!! Like Poles has to be fired today

Yesh man. Caleb is a generational 1st pick in the draft. He’s supposed to be able to overcome every single issues with the bears. Anything short and he’s just a bust!

He's holding the ball too long as well, speak on that as well! Good QB, generational talent, hell no!

Caleb williams suck, and it's sad that everyone only give him praise when you do something great. But try to detour from what's really going on that he cannot read a defense

Caleb Williams signed a 4 year, $39,486,058. Is he playing like a nearly 10million dollar a year QB. Hell No! Bench him or revise his contract. I bet then you will see a change. I sick of these overpaid clowns that come into the Pro's just for the big purse then realize after they sign, they really don't have to do much, the moneys' in the bag and there will always be those to take up for him saying "remember he's a rookie" BS. He's PAID like a PRO! It cost me over $300+ to see the Bear- Hawks game ie. tickets, parking and cold beer to sit in the frigid rain to watch maybe the worst NFL game I've seen all season. And to hear chanting as I was leaving " SELL THE TEAM" was the icing on the cake. Here in Chicago, Bears is all we got unlike NY, Cali or Texas. 1 team and I'm a fan for life. Caleb blows and YES, I hold him responsible!

Worst TNF game EVER!! I couldn’t even stay awake!! 😂😂😂😂. And I’m not sure about Colin on this one with Ben Johnson. I agree with you that he cares about his reputation, but he has been wishing this into existence since before there was even an opening there on his podcasts. And he is also VERY biased towards Cali guys (Caleb from USC, Stafford, McVay, 49ers). I don’t what to think.

CHI is a terrible job opening. Good luck being in 4th for the next half decade. Maybe a 3rd place if they have a lucky year or MIN implodes

Ryan Poles and Warren were hired after the Bear's ownership took it upon themselves to hire grifter Matt Eberflus. Ryan Poles is a great GM that was put in a bad situaton by Bear's ownership. In my opinion Eberflus is a grifter and a con-artist that bee-ull-she-itted the MaCaskey family into hiring him. Lets keep in mind that Ryan Poles is a first time general manager that tried to manage an incompetent head coach that was hired by the team's owner prior to Ryan Poles being hired. It was very difficult for Poles manage grifter Eberfus whom had a relationship with ownership longer than Poles had a relationship with ownership. That is the situation the McCasky's put Ryan Poles in when they hired that grifter Eberflus. Ryan Poles probably would have hired someone else other than Eberflue in first place. Ryan Poles was not given the opportunity to hire someone else because, ownership had already hired grifter Eberflus. Ryan Poles and Warren are both qualified for their jobs. Poles and Warren's being hired has nothing to do with DEI. How did Ryan Poles know Eberflus could not do something as simple as manage a game clock and throw a challenge flag at the right time? Ryan Poles is doing his best to build this team. Claypool and Nate Davis were not professionals at their jobs. Ryan Poles can hire players but, the player ultimately has to do his job. I am on board with Caleb Williams because the Bears drafted him. Did I want to keep Justin Fields? Yes I did but, Ryan Poles has to manage the Bear's finances as well as get good players. Ryan Poles is not only responible for getting good talent but, he has do also keep the Bears out of cap space hell. I understand that Poles did not want to pay Justin $50 million dollars. Eberflus was a bad hire by Bear's ownership not Warren and Poles. Amegadje was a great pick for where Poles drafted him. Amegadje was injured and missed games at the start of the season. When he healed Amegadje had to be thrown into the fire right away with no experience. Remember he missed training camp due an injury he suffered while at Yale. Amegadje does not look as good in 2024 as he should look in 2025. Ryan Poles has drafted some very good players Eberflus did not know what he was doing with the player's developement. The Bear's ownership got sucker by Eberflus' ability to talk football but not actually know how to coach football. I do not know who the Bear's next head coach is going to be. I like Ben Johnson. I like Flores. I like Dan Lanning at Oregon. There are many coahes that can help the Bears. I hope Ryan Poles stays with the Bears because, he needs to be allowed to hire his choice for the Bear's head coaching job. By the way what you said about Ben Johnson wanting another GM because, he will not get along with Ryan Poles makes no sense. It makes no sense because, he does not know Ryan Poles so: how does he know he will not get along with him. The Bear's ownership should not fire Ryan Pole because ownership set Ryan Poles up to fail by hiring Eberflus before they hire Ryan Poles. If Ben Johnson does not understand what Bears ownership did to Ryan Poles; Ben Johnson should not be hired in Chicago. Ownership needs to allow it's GM and Team President to do their jobs. Bear Down!

I’m sorry but when I watch him I see zero talent. Where’s the talent? He seems lost and scared. Everytime he throws the ball down the field he’s off target.

If you are smart enough you would not take the Chicago bears head coaching job. It's that simple. Horrible franchise.
