I couldn't help laughing out loud as I was watching this video, Layne. As a native Chinese, I grew up hearing things like, "Eating [animal] heart nourishes the heart and eating [animal] liver nourishes the liver". Oh, talking about esoteric old books, in our culture we have many, many ancient books on nutrition and medicine going back many hundred years that have never been digitized or translated. I guess I need to go back and bury myself in such old books to search for valuable nutrition and dietary advice, 🙂 BTW, I got to know your work via Peter Attia's and Andrew Huberman's podcasts. Love to hear your guys dorking out on exercise protocols and nutrition regiments. Love your work!

That gets to what I was wondering about: why did they supposedly dig up a century-old German book when organ meats are popular among many healing traditions? My guess is stereotypes: I think Meat Psychiatrist knows his demographic and how they’d perceive Chinese or Ethiopian medicine. Germans though, they’re scientific and logical, so they must be right.

One of my clients was a grower of nuts. Almonds and walnuts mainly. He says he sends all of his walnuts to China. They can't get enough of them. I said why. He said it's because the Chinese think that because a shelled walnut looks like a brain, eating them gives you a strong brain. So they feed their kids walnuts so they'll be smart. He said, as long as they keep buying them I'll keep growing them. I don't care why they buy them.

As a librarian, I am mad he is bringing us into this. Libraries don't keep books around if no one looks looks at them. We literally have collection development, circulation, and weeding policies. Unless there is a special case to keep it, if no one reads or checks out the book, it goes. It is not like we keep it on the shelf for decades so someone can one day unlock its secrets. I could do a separate video just on his library BS.

As a trained historian i found this strange as well. The average layman probably don't realise how hard it is to find relevant older sources. You would have to search historical archives to find this kind of materials, and if you don't know precisely what you're looking for and where to search for it, it would be extremely difficult to find. Not something you just stumble across. Historians network within their faculty and with the aid of archivists to search for these things.

Saladino is annoying. He laughs while speaking like a narcissist. He posts shirtless from Costa Rica. He's begging to be a target. As for Baker and Chaffey they are really part of the Autoimmune Protocol community. They eliminated plant foods out of desperation to battle skin conditions like psoriasis, arthritis, Chron's, etc.....Along the way they improved body comp which makes sense because they consume lots of protein. Baker still has redness on his cheeks probably from the rosacea but it's faint. Anyway most of these devout carnivore people like Baker and Amber O'Hearn, are consuming alcohol for sure. That's their plant-based carb no doubt.

2:24 - if all proteins were broken down completely by stomach acid and bodily protease enzymes, we wouldn't develop allergies to certain proteins found in foods. Even dairy protein, which is supposed to be almost 100% digestible and absorbable, can cause dairy allergies. There's a reason people are concerned about the beta-casomorphin-7 in dairy protein. I'm not sure if specifically organ meat proteins, including growth factors, are completely broken down into amino acids by the body, but you didn't preface your points with evidence specific to organ meat proteins. The rest of the stuff he says - I can't really comment on it because I have no idea.

Could they have had tech that transcended antiquity? Made of orichalcum and dragons buttholes, or lasers that cut rock without vitrification. Why not? Makes for a great story, and we never let the truth stand in the way of a good story.😂 Were they just very proficient in using the ancient tech like copper chisels, tube drills and saws that we no longer know how to use in the same manner, most likely.

I do eat organ meat because I think of it as highly nutritious. But not to specifically target benefiting that same organ. But I do eat small or softer bones (like chicken necks) with the hope that they will have nutrients needed for bone health. Is that a wasted effort?
