Sometimes, what's known but left unsaid leaves a more meaningful impact. There's plenty of ways to add heavy themes and angst to a story without explicit gore, after all.

Now I can’t help but imagine Grian’s face being like that of Faceless Neil’s- hollow sockets with neither mouth nor nose. Side note: I wanted to make that reference to Neil, but couldn’t remember his name or the videos he appeared in. So I had to spend copious amounts of time looking up various combinations of “creepy KZbin cartoon”, “cartoon guy with no eyes”, and “guy with no eyes gets isekaid to demon world” (all while filling my watch history with miscellaneous horror videos with the hope it would beneficially guide the algorithm) before I finally found it by simply looking up monster animation.

This actually fits perfectly with how I represent Grian in my theories (although I don't always call them theories, more like the interpretation I like the most). I like to think that he doesn't have eyes or that he has like obsidian marbles instead of eyes, because "the eyes are the windows to the soul" and well... I'm not sure if he has a soul per se... The "biblically correct angel" style depiction of the Watchers (cosplay and fanarts I've seen) gives me the idea that they need the eyes of other beings and so use them to see in their place. (I have a lot more things, but this is already a lot of text :))
