adnan iftiaz They said he tried and after years being held up in appeal court, he met someone, married and relocated. His appeals attorney lost track of him with vital info he needed and could use to press forward in his case. So he became another open case pending for deportation without knowing the final steps he could have taken to prevent it.

An amazing amount of these people, just like Ray made the same mistake. It's been pointed out again and again. They fail to report with their immigration officers. Fail to show up at important court dates. Till one day a brake light goes out or you fail to signal a turn. Note how Ray, despite running a business here in the U.S.. Failed to send ahead the most basic of tools. That would have made his life so much easier. Even when you know their deporting illegals . Why don't they plan ahead? A sad side note, his wife just waved goodbye, staying behind with 5 kids. Five children is 3 more than most families could afford. Smart people limit their family size. She could have worked. Hired a lawyer to help her husband. Traveled there to visit and bring him things. Give those kids a multi-cultural upbringing.

Vince H How do illegal immigrants pay taxes if they are undocumented ?? Because they get money taken from their check being exploited by farm owners and other companies because they know illegal immigrants won't complain about low wages and being taxed out of fear of being deported maybe ? Basically "undocumented illegals" put themselves in that situation and it's easy to blame America because and Trump because illegal immigrants don't understand the politics and economics of America because they didn't go through the classes to become a citizen so they are ignorant to how things go sadly.

***** The Europeans thought they were above respecting (Native) American laws, and they were because they had power. Those illegal immigrants, if they have power to remain undetected, also have the same moral justification. Who owns the land is a very subjective question: does it depend on who arrived first? Does it depend on who is living on the land in the present? You can see it either way, and whenever you have a subjective question like this, whoever has power can say they're right. Choose which rule to cite selectively to suit yourself. In the end, it ain't no legitimacy vs. illegitimacy question at all. Behind the thin veil of legal mumbo jumbo, is the ancient brawl between salvage chimpanzee alliances over who gets control of the fig trees.

CAPTAINNEMO - I've been a anti-poverty volunteer since the 1960's. Ray is the kind of person who would be able to help his OWN homeland become more technologically advanced & prosperous. There are a couple of BILLION "Rays" around the world. HOW MANY "Rays" do you want this single nation to provide for within our own borders? 100 million? 500 million? My organizations help industrious people, like Ray, create "a better life" for their families IN THEIR NATIVE LANDS. Seriously. Is that not a more compassionate "solution?" Seriously. PS - I've asked this HOW MANY question from numerous people encouraging mass immigration; never got an answer. Are you willing to provide an answer? Thank you.

Michelle Reyes So Michelle, he was married to an American woman and he had his own business going, so why did he not apply for his legal green card a decade ago? Because, he KNEW that he was illegal ! And he KNEW that the marriage to an American would not cover him because he was illegal ! Marriage to an American only works when a person is here legally ! I do actually feel sorry for him because he IS the kind of immigrant that we need in this country. But twenty years ago he did not put forth the effort needed to gain legal status! Instead he ran off, his, and did make a life for himself and his family. He was found because he is an upstanding man and therefore visible. I expect that if you drove six blocks down nearly any street in Los Angeles, that you would drive past a thousand illegal Mexicans who deserve to be deported far more than Ray but never will be ! Why? Because they are not upstanding men and they keep themselves hidden under the radar. THEY are the ones that we want deported. But they won't be.

The problem didn't start with America deporting this man, it started when he came to this country illegally. You can't pick and choose who gets the law applied to them and who doesn't. Everyone should be treated equally, regardless. Its a sad story of course, but he brought it upon himself and his family.

This man Ray did have a process that he could have followed to be in the U.S. legally! Instead he seems to have said, what the hell, I'm here now and married to an American ! But, the immigration law still applies ! He had a process available but he did not take it. He now now must follow that process with a deportation on his record !

Dago Perez You are very correct. We do have a large number of born citizens that should be taken out to a deserted island and dumped there ! They are a worthless drag upon our country. This man is a good man who unfortunately is an illegal immigrant ! And it is not just the United States! I know of a couple from Canada. The man is a citizen of Canada. Married to his wife for more than three years. She was in Canada on a temporary visa when they married. And she never applied for citizenship in Canada. That visa expired about three years ago. A few months after they were married. She should have applied while she was still legal ! Now, they are living in China while she is applying for a marriage visa to Canada! Yes ! She was deported by Canada even though she was married to a Canadian because she was in Canada illegally ! In Ray's case he could not apply because he was illegal from the very beginning ! He should be able to apply for a spouses visa except he and the Chinese woman both have a deportation hanging over their heads. The Chinese couple ? They are expecting the process to now take so long that they have purchased an apartment in China! The smartest thing for Ray to have done was return to his home country and then apply for a spousal visa . And thus with no deportation on his record !
@CountessLugosi

There are a couple of things this didn't mention. The Ice officers refused to let Ray hug his autistic son who ran after him and wouldn't let go of his dad's leg. His youngest son just turned 3, and he barely knows his father. Kacie moved the family to Guatemala last summer for a couple of months to be with her husband, but the lifestyle was very hard on her kids and they had to come back so the kids could go to school. He was deported as a part of a big sting operation here, and nearly every immigrant who went to renew their driver's license were deported. But I am happy to say that Ray has his visa in hand as of today and is on his way home!

I didn't see Ray getting angry with anyone over his situation. From what I gathered is that he knew he had broken the law and he was trying to make the best of a difficult situation. I'm sad that his situation turned out that way and I'm heartened that he was legally able to be reunited with his beautiful family. Everyone makes mistakes and by Gods grace we are forgiven. It is only right that when we make those mistakes that we accept and deal with the consequences with fortitude and grace the way Ray has AND when someone has dealt with those consequences it is only right and just that the rest of us give that person the second chance and forgiveness they've earned. I pray that Ray and his family have many beautiful years ahead in safety and security and little worry. 💕

Sum Mors It is true what the news says but clearly it says the reason why is been done: "The big switch came about because the U.S. asked Mexico to be actively involved in stopping unaccompanied minors from Central America from coming illegally into the U.S. Out of that request came a new Mexican task force. Mexico’s New Southern Border program is working well in several major ways. It sent 5,000 federal police to its southernmost border and checked borders at the highways coming into Mexico from Central America". So México is doing is bit to avoid illegals inmigrants to reach the US-México border hence the stadistics, and the ironic part more US citizens are moving to México nowadays.
@ricardo_cn

Sum Mors What it is in this trend is more of prejudice of social class than racism. In México either you are poor or rich and this is a big gap in the mexican society and it happens to be that the poorer people are mostly indigenous people and because of this, the indigenous people are seen this way. Sad but true!

Sum Mors As I agree with the comments you make there is no doubt that you will find people as such in your comments there are, and is a minority. Regarding the wall built in the south border with Guatemala alot of people are asking this (again is true) because now is becoming for them hard to reach the US border and they are staying in México hence the mention of the wall there. Regardless, to me if the US wants to build the wall fine but do not ask for México to pay for it. I thank you for your exchange as well.

cherie andersen contrast to ALL the millions of hard working, intelligently educated, US army, tax paying citizens you're supporting which vastly outnumber the few undocumented immigrants u support, am I right?? Oh. No? Your right, your paying for tons people who are doing dip shit competitively except watching Netflix, jacking off to porn, sitting on their fat asses eating more, and playing games. Why tell me do undocumented immigrants join the military, go to school, work (pay taxes) and clean buildings. They aren't getting hardly anything in return. They don't get help for anything. And with Trump if they wanted even food and were legal, they could be stopped from beginning a citizen. Those are for the legal immigrants mind you! Let yourself know first that you are 1, racist 2 hateful or 3, deadbeat in the head and become human again with sense

They do them ALL on a case by case basis, It just seems in every case they either crossed the border illegally, failed to pursue their case properly, or did something illegal to get deported and stripped of their green card or their citizenship (they can strip a naturalized citizen of their citizenship and deport them back to country of origin, or whoever will take them). Just because he dodged the system for 20-however many years, doesnt make his presence any less illegal by the laws of the united states of america. Sucks to be him, Yes he supported his family, but He should have pursued his case, and SHE should have made sure he was a citizen before having kids. Cant claim ignorance. Every one of these cases is a clear violation of the law. I bet one thing, now that he is back in the states, he will damn sure jump through the immigration hoops, and deal with the red tape of staying. I am so tired of people refusing to accept responsibility for their own mistakes and looking for someone else to blame.

@ Cher... No what should have happened is for he and his wife to rationally discuss how many children "they" can support without him..This has been a game played for decades to play upon the sympathies of the US citizens.. Ray and his wife knew he was "illegal".. but they kept having kids in spite of the real possibility that he could be deported.. I grew up in a family where we didn't have all of the resources available to us, and although I know my parents loved each and every one of us, honestly they should have stopped at two, but continued to have three more, because they didn't have all of the tools to provide for five children.. Nor would they get them. It takes more than a big house to raise a family... it takes a stable household, with an intelligent/emotionally stable parent nearby to keep a watchful eye..Now.... because they created this situation the children are going to suffer because they didn't plan the family situation out and its going to cost everyone..He should have had a vasectomy after one child or possibly two.. or better STILL not had ANY until his status was secure

he asked himself what did he do? I will tell you he made a poor choice he decided to break the law and take his chances all well knowing this day would come and could happen... He thought that if he could marry a American woman and that would lock him in to be able to say and he was rolling the dice thinking he would win. He was only thinking of himself instead of what would happen when to his kids when they finally would catch up with him and he is taken away and his kids are left without a dad. These immigrants all think it will not happen to them that once they come they can stay or won't be caught. this story is severely slanted as well when they describe the costs to the tax payers. They never once mention what the actual costs in 100's of ways if we where just to open the border and let a flood of immigrants just stay or come here. that costs would be a 100 times more than 12,000 dollars per illegal. Our nation would become a 3rd world country in a matter of 5 to 8 years. Americans lifestyle and earnings and way of livin would change and no longer be what it is right now if we where to allow them all to come across the border. The population would just soar to 4 times what we have now most don't even have a concept of what kind of impact that would have on our America lives. People are so bleeding heart about a few rare stories like this guy. Is it unfare? a bit as the guy is not a criminal or a tax evader or bad guy or more than anything a person who assimilated to American values and standards but he is the very rare case and that's partly because he was in Idaho where there are few Mexicans or Latins and married a white woman. 90% of the other illegals do not assimilate they are not like this rare one guys story. I hate when they media paints this rare heart bleeding story when it's the rare case as most of these types of true stories are not like this mans but of illegals that don't pay taxes "All of them" and do not assimilate or learn American values and lessons and beliefs. No most take advantage of the system and are taught by others to do so and get as much as they can. think you pay a lot of taxes now or pay a lot for health care wait till you open the flood gates to the boarders then you will see all those costs go up 4 times what they are now and you loose your jobs and your cheap college tuitions go up 4 times what they are now. There are always a few people that get burned a bit like this guy did but for every one like him there is 600 or 700 illegals that are doin the opposite of what this guy lived and did. Vice told the story of this one guy that is a rare example or case all to get a bleeding heart story to get viewers and attention as it sells papers. Vice does not tell te whole story of the costs of illegals and the impacts to our county vice only tells the saddest case and rarest case so they can get a audience to say "Awwww" because it gets them ratings... booo on liberal vice totally slanted half truths and non full story coverage... by the way I am Latin... not white.. And a republican and on the of Americans that can't have more than one kid because they can't afford them because we are to busy paying for this guys kids that he left behind to live on welfare all because he choose to "START A FAMILY" well knowing he could be deported at any time because he was a illegal the whole time he was here for 20 years. He just gamble with his wife's life and his children's lives which was selfish. Now he is upset he lost the gamble he needs to take responsibility for his choices...

he married her because he loved her and not because she was american. you also mention that there is a dark side to illegal immigration, i will not deny that there are people here with bad intentions but then there are people like me that were brought here as children, i went to school here, i work and pay taxes. my life is here in the u.s, everything i have is here and i have nothing in mexico. you also speak like you understand the subject of immigration very well, trust me you don't, there are a lot of people like him in his situation but something tells me you wouldn't really know about that. when you meet someone like myself you'll understand there is another side to this that the media doesn't portray; not even in this documentary.
@RViscara
@RViscara 10 жыл бұрын
jairtzinio Yes your correct there is a side that was not portrayed by your comments above and also by Vice and its this one clear point that you need to ask yourself. That question is to look your parents in their face in the their eyes and ask them why they brought you over the border knowing good and well that this day may come when they deport you or when you are in a fender bender and get found out and are deported. You ask them what where they thinking your parents? Did they think that it was going to go away that fact that they broke the law and know it could come back to haunt you and them? Its not like its rocket science to figure out. You break that law and a serious one at that and that one day they may come knocking on your parents door or your door... Just because it takes years for that to happen does not make it any less illegal... What your parents did was illegal and when you do illegal things especially ones this bad your bound to pay the piper one day and you have no one to blame but your parents.... Want to be a man go to your country and try to fix your country and while your at it do so without having 5 kids that you can not support. Because I can not afford to barely have my 1 son and cant afford to pay for all of the ones you illegals keep having...

I am the first one to say if you're here illegally - send them back, however.... this man was a tax paying, self employed father of 5 and employer himself of 5-8 legally accounted for employees I am sorry but you have to respect that. Plus he's legally married to a US citizen. The part that really disturbs me is Rey wasnt doing anything duplicitous he wasnt trying to hide I mean hell he documented his OWN employees - how many legal US small time contractors do that......And he did have an immigration attorney he was doing whatever steps necessary TO be legal etc etc etc and while your case is under review you're allowed to stay here until the verdict is reached - that wasnt the case here! This is just wrong somehow.... this man was no welfare cheat or criminal there has to be a better compromise than this. Maybe if we didnt have so MANY for so long who drain the system etc the harshness wouldn't spill over to decent people like this. I know some people do this for the wrong reason - not all, but my god is being married to a US citizen account for NOTHING?? We have to follow the law, I get it, but follow it don't make it WORSE just be/c the person is from Central America and not.... Sweden or Brazil etc

Well he was negligent, his wife is American, he should off legally fixed his status long time ago and I guess she was in DREAMLAND cause she must of known he was not legal. They should of been on top of that FIRST instead of focussing so much on their business and prosperity. EVERYTHING IN ORDER.

He did tried fixing it but got tired of waiting so long,,,and those central Americans send money religiously because they don't have no government help no FS ,no medicaid no nada so if they don't send money they know they family would be hurting,,and secondly they are more united than ricans ,,and third reason Rican family sometimes don't help out is because they be like well your hungry go to a soup kitchen or go apply for FS or go get a job because they know those things are possible unlike them central american countries....

It is much harder for illegal immigrants to get their papers even when they are married to a US citizen. If you are illegal the immigration is looking for you to send you back already, therefore most will not even put themselves out there to apply for papers in the first place. For instance, Getting a driver's license didn't require legal status, now it does. If an illegal immigrant applies for a DL and the agency suspects that he might be illegal, they will send his file to immigration including all his personal information like address, name etc...

Frankie Lkz So let me get this straight, he wanted to help his family back home in Guatemala so much, that he decided to have a bunch of kids in America? Wouldn't it make more sense to just stay single, not make babies and send more money back home? Its all a big lie you're told. These peoples abandon their countries and make babies here in America which they cant afford. Look how he lit the stove for his mother. His mother needs him there to help her. I grew up in California and was surrounded by illegals. There was trash, graffiti and empty beer cans everywhere. They stay up all night drinking,doing drugs and playing narcocorridos which are songs glorifying drug cartels. They stare at you non stop and are quick to fight for any reason. They dont speak any English and speak a horrible, vulgar, slang filled version of Spanish. Girls cant even walk by because they are sexually harassed so much. They hang the mexican flag and put up mexican stickers and murals all over their cars. The honest truth is every city that ends up mostly illegas turns into a shithole.

Frankie Lkz So a good solution would be to tax money sent home by illegals. If we taxed that money at 75% and made it a crime to mail cash or checks outside of US without documentation. This would keep the cash in the US markets and take away or minimize 1 reason for illegal immigration. We need to get smart. Most illegal immigration is about nothing but money. Mexico encourages their poor to come here so we need to cut their aid based on what we spend on their citizens each year. More money for US schools and a reason for nations to keep their people in their country.

It was actually nice to know that Ray got to be with his family at the end. But i cannot imagine what it would of been like to have clean and running water to chopping wood just to survive to cold nights.
