Back in the 80's - 90's Echo Bridge was a big party spot for high school kids, myself included. A lot of teenage drinking went on there. Had some fun nights on and under that bridge back in the day.

Hi Adam - I live locally and have been to most of these locations, starting at Dungeon Rock as a kid, up to Giggles Comedy Club at Prince of Pizza, as a much older kid. Thank you for visiting Pleasure Island. I ended up writing books on this park, Freedomland in the Bronx, and Magic Mountain in Golden, CO. They are all long gone. They were designed by mostly former Disney and MGM talent for investors trying to mimic Disneyland.

I went to Pleasure Island as a kid in the 60’s. I only remember an old western town section, and a staged shootout with bank robbers. There was an old steam train that took you through the woods around the perimeter of the park. I went back in the 70’s, long after the park closed. We squeezed an old Chevy Impala between 2 boulders at the entrance, which were meant to keep vehicles out, and ended up driving on the old railroad line around the park. The rails, and most of the railroad ties had been removed, and it was all overgrown. Unlike you, that was my only experience exploring an abandoned theme park. Thanks for the memories!!

Gosh I live in the state and I never knew about the dungeon rock! That thing looks really cool! I looked it up..it's opened a couple of hours on certain days when the weather is good and if you want a "special tour" of it you can call the local Park Ranger and they'll give you a tour of the tunnels underneath! Don't quote me on it but this was on their website.🌲

I love all the little places you’re finding in the Boston area. My dad and uncle used to talk about the whale from Pleasure Island but I didn’t know where it was. I think that old building you were looking at in Malden Square was an old department store and movie theater from the 70s.

Hung out at Dungeon Rock as a kid. One night was at the bottom of the staircase about 100 ft below where the staircase turned to water. Bubbles appeared in the water. Got super scared 😳. A skindiver emerged from the water! He had dived to the bottom. Said he found nothing. Frequented treasure Island as a kid also. The whale would pop up via hydraulics during the boat ride. It was a great park. 🤔

I used to live down the street from Echo Bridge! Hemlock Gorge was like our own playground when we were kids. We just ran around there all the time. Brought back so many good memories! You should check out Mount Auburn Cemetery in Cambridge. You'll love the view from the top of the 125 ft. medieval tower in the middle of it. It feels more like a public garden than a cemetery. It's really gorgeous.

Dungeon Rock is awesome! It’s pitch black down there and totally has a Pirates of the Caribbean feel… At the end of the cave there is a pretty deep pool of water which is where the treasure is allegedly buried.
