Good evening sir, Today’s motivational quote is “If you have a strong purpose in life, you don’t have to be pushed. Your passion will drive you there.” Editorial is related to providing reservation to Other Backward Classes (OBCs) in local polls in Madhya Pradesh. In my opinion:- The constitution of India has a provision to provide reservation to the people in various sectors those who belong to Scheduled Castes (SCs), Scheduled Tribes (STs) and Other Backward Classes (OBCs). Recently, the Supreme Court of India has given consent on providing 14% reservation to OBCs in the upcoming local polls in Madhya Pradesh. This decision has come in reference to 27 % reservation which was demanded by the previous regime of Madhya Pradesh. The Madhya Pradesh Government and the BJP have upheld the court verdict while the Congress Party has said that the current regime has been failed to justify the reason for granting 27% reservation to OBCs which they deserve. The MP regime has convinced the court regarding triple test which means the reservation comes under 50% ceiling on quotas that have been provisioned by the Constitution. At present, there are many states that are demanding to conduct caste based census while the Central Government is opposing it. Such things are somewhere creating problem for the development of the country. Political parties and governments must avoid such things and act in tandem with the Judiciary so that benefit of reservation could be granted those who actually need. Besides, local people have to be aware about the reservation and they should avoid fighting each other. Apart from this, political parties often win the polls, assuring if they win, they will provide reservation so our government must check that the provision for granting reservation was made for ten years. Then, whether it is needed at present or it can be removed.
