If I recall correctly the quests in ESO imply that the Hist can commune with other species and not just Argonians. The Mnemic egg allows you to enter a Hist dream. It's just that the Argonians are their preferred hands in the world of Tamriel. It is unclear what effect Hist sap would have on other species although some have likely tried given its availability. I suspect hallucinations are the most likely result in non Argonians. However, since the Hist have a connection with the sap I think the Hist could change any species who drank the sap physically and also be commune with them if it was in the best interest of the Hist. Hallucinations are likely the most common result as the Hist don't have a working relationship with non Argonians but I'm positive that if it were important enough to the Hist that they would use another species to commune with in order to complete the task at hand. The Hist would likely give a boon to that creature to increase that creatures chance of completing the task. Since the Hist are primarily located in Black Marsh such boon would likely alter the drinker physically to better adapt to that location but not necessarily if that task was one that needed completing outside of Black Marsh. My thinking is that the Argonians are the hands or tools that the Hist use to further their will in the waking world and to protect the Hist Trees although anyone could become a tool of the Hist if the Hist had a need and use for them.

High fantasy is a great genre that can explore the most insane ideas and create entirely new world's, yet it's saturated with the same shit over snd over. The Hists isn't quite like anything I've seen before, even if some elements are present in other fantasy lore Just trying to imagine black marsh or the society of the Hists in the creation theories, in modern day tamriel and what it is they know or how they know thing That's the good shit right there. 9:08 you say "Argonians hatch from eggs and rely on hatching pools that form inside nests of raised Hist roots. They can, and normally do, but - in extreme situations that threaten extinction - Argonians can suddenly be made by the Hist to carry their young and give birth as humans do. 9:20 "An Argonian hatched without the influence of a Hist will not survive" Wrong, their survival is relatively common. They are named Lukiul (Loo-ke'ool). You double back on this statement shortly after. 9:25 "Once born, Argonian hatchlings drink the Hist's sap, and continue to do so throughout their infancy." No, that happens much later, typically once or twice as part of rituals. Not, for example, dozens of times as you're implying. That, and ingestion of Hist sap, even to an Argonian, usually leads to hallucinations and other virile effects. Only through ritualistic means may ingestion lead to visions, things of a clearer nature, empowerment and the like. That, and one would simply have to be in the right place, at the right time, for consuming Hist sap to aid in fulfilling a task or gathering knowledge - both of which are fairly rare occurrences. 10:09 "The sap that flows from a Hist tree contains concentrated Magicka." Yet vampires and necromancers do not prioritize or refrain from taking advantage of Argonians. They, of all individuals, would be exposed to a tangible form of Magicka if it existed. So there has to be a different explanation for how Argonians can handle cold weather. 11:28 "Argonians drink Hist sap throughout their lives." No they don't. We hallucinate and feel ill like everyone else if we just chug it like Skooma. 11:33 "It's said that female Argonian breasts contain Hist sap." It's neither confirmed nor denied, but it might tie in to what I said about 9:08.

You know what makes the Hist beating Mehrunes even funnier. PART OF MEHRUNES SPHERE IS LITERALLY A STAPLE OF ARGONIAN TEACHING. They were in his fucking ballpark, and he was the one who got turned into a benchwarmer

I'm just saying that a Hist Speaker build would be awesome if you could pull it off somehow. Maybe Restoration, Alteration, Conjuration?

I think I just figured out how the Hist saw the Oblivion crisis coming. I don't know the timeline, if Black Marsh was hit before or after Kvatch, but the Argonian sacrifice in the shrine cave was, presumably, from Argonia and thus would have a link with the Hist. I could be entirely wrong, though.

old comment your 'probably' wrong the hist seems to be almost omniscient or if maybe they know some hidden magic from a previous kalpa and used that I dont know

I wonder if there is out there, somewhere in Nirn, other Hist trees. Such as in Akavir. Or, perhaps, pure Elhnofey.

if there was a black marsh game 9 races would die every minute and argonians would have to be buffed up to lore standards or they would die too because the 50% disease resistance and no poison resistance from skyrim aint cutting it

Or if you look closer the ruling argonian clan may have just pulled a thalmor and claimed they did that. We know from the infernal city books that no argonian actually has a memory of it, but the ruthless clan that seized power said that it happened, and since this clan control managed to seize control of the access to the just they claimed that they were the ones who managed to do the ritual to slow it to happen. However since this clan forbids people from connecting to the hist no one can confirm whether they are lying or not. And given how ruthlessly they treat other argonians, they probably are lying.

Could it be possible that the hist trees and spriggans are connected or related?
@RdTrler5 жыл бұрын
Spriggans would be more closely related to Hircine, as Spriggans typically hunt/kill hunters. Meanwhile Argonians have little to nothing to say about Spriggans, and see no kindred spirit in them whatsoever. That is to say, the Hist doesn't influence Spriggans to spare its Argonian children, let alone help them.

I always wondered why the hist allowed, and you could even say encouraged argonian enslavement by the dunmer. But now I think about it, what better way could you spy on a potential threat than by having a sleeper agent in every household. But my then also.. what benefit did the hist see in allowing black marsh to join the empire 🤔 and what was gained from them seceding from it.
@ciaranmck44694 жыл бұрын
old comment but they probably wanted peace because they didnt want argonia to be destroyed the argonians with the hist make fearce fighters so a war wouldve lasted a long time which could potentially destroy parts of the swamp besides the empire littery could not get out of the north eastern corner the only way they would be able to is by burning the trees and plants and I'd imagine the hist and argonians wouldnt want that
