It's so wild how since black culture got to a point where it's widely commodifiable on the internet, things that were considered ghetto, dirty, unprofessional, etc in the early 2000's are everywhere; but now with the understanding that it's all "internet culture". As though black culture can be separated from black people and conveniently be turned into a phase retroactively once a little time passes. And the prevalence of digital blackface is beyond annoying. Thanks for this video; it was spot on! ~R-E-A-D A B-O-O-K~ (whew a throw back!!!)

I'm a fan of your channel and an amv editor. I think the amv community is so vast that I feel like there are small groups for everything spread out all over the internet these days. I definitely discovered many songs through amvs and still do. It's not without its issues though.

I guess the AMV community's treatment of music by Black artists mirrored the way it was seen by society in general. When it was ignored it was not used often and when it became really popular with the masses you get situations like this. But anyway this video was great! It made me remember being in middle school and watching AMVs all the time. I discovered a lot of artists that way including Paramore and Cascada so I thought it was so funny when you mentioned them in the video.

Yes, I love the fact that your speaking this subject back into existence... AMV's have come far to the point that now many artist are using this apart of their promotion and marketing. I know, I made a few AMVs for Cookiee Kawaii and some of them went viral. I feel old now that we're at the point. Where some ppl might not think edits and fancams are the decadent of AMVs Also, Read A B-o-ok!😭😭😭

I could maybe get why Bumbleebee doesn’t (except that Kitten has more and she’s there less) because she’s not there a shit ton in Teen Titans……but Cyborg is a main character in Teen Titans………..kinda makes me wonder. Shit I’m pretty sure I became a Fall Out Boy and Imagine Dragons fan because of AMV’s. I also had no idea what Six The Musical was until I saw that songs from it were used for Disney characters

Girl you definitely even mentioning the AMV is what reminded me that they were even in the discussion after you said the thing about the timing of when people started to have a different opinion at least outwardly on the internet about black people was definitely around that time and it is crazy but I did notice at that time like I think every black person did that you know you went outside and stuff and I don't know around the time just like after George Floyd white people were just really friendly all of a sudden and it was kind of strange

My friend makes AMVs. They truly are an art form. And yeah, I know about the "Sexy Naughty" song, though I actually found it through Winx abridged. It's a funny song to use for an AMV. I wasn't aware of the anti-blackness in some of them though so thanks for pointing that out.

I was searching raya and the last dragon amv on youtube. One of them that i across is that they use black barbie song by nicki minaj for their amv, so i comment on that creator to not use that song for the amv if the character is not black. It's rare to see amv that have black artist song used on black character
