While I've not seen this yet I thought I'd scroll the comments as I know these games journos cannot mention DmC without saying "b-b-but it was good and it was only the hair! Nothing to do with the colour coded enemies, lack of lock-on despite two dodge buttons and it being more like Heavenly Sword but with a jump button than Devil May Cry!" I'd honestly be more surprised if that didn't happen, but after all it is Gamespot, and I can remember seeing a video from them with some clown saying about how DMC5's marketing is throwing DmC under the bus by simply saying "Devil May Cry is back!" Utterly ridiculous. No matter how many times they put the Devil May Cry name into the title, it's never gonna be like DMC.

Having steamrolled the series again in prep for DMC5, I have to say that DmC has actually aged very well. The combat is arguably the best in the series, and being open to the idea of an AU (with crossover potential!) actually makes it a lot more palatable story wise. I still wouldn't go so far as to say the story is particularly good, even amidst DMC games, the characters on their own are decent and the combat is top notch.

DmC was easily my favorite in the series. The smoothest and varying combat. The stages and bosses that were so unique and monumental. It's like when I played god of war for the first time. I had played others before then but this was my favorite. Also played on pc..may have had something to do with it

I loved DmC: Devil May Cry. The gameplay was fun and the ability to switch to demon/angel weapons on the fly were unique. The story was a little try-hard to be "modern" but that last boss fight with Vergil was amazing. I know many fans disagree, but I love the Devil May Cry series and I welcome DmC as part of the family of games.

As an outsider looking in (I've never played a DMC game to fruition, but love watching the industry impact), the reboot to canonical series relationship is absolutely FASCINATING. Hardcore fans either hate DmC or show it respect for its combat, while non-hardcore fans absolutely love it. I had no idea it was this polarizing, but it's an entertaining tug-of-war for on-lookers.

Am I the only one who didn't equip original design of Dante in DmC Definitive edition. I personally used Neo Dante. The design of his face makes me sick and it does not work with the original Dante's costume. Neo Dante just makes more sense to me. It still look like Dante but more punk instead of teenager wearing a gross dirty coat over an even grosser and dirtier tank top.

Though I do like the reboot, I couldn't count it as a true dmc game cause of the forced playstyle it made you play on certain enemies, I consider the definitive edition more dmc then the original 360 release.
