Was just going to post this. That cartridge and the Toaplan Arcade Collection 3 & 4 look great! Instant pick ups for me. Their Arcade Collection releases are some of their best. They just announced SNK games would be coming over the next two years, worded as: "retro gaming products and physical cartridge releases for use on hardware like Evercade EXP-R, VS-R, and Alpha bartop arcade machines, as well as Super Pocket devices."

@@orderofmagnitude-TPATP Lupin III is japanese series of comics and animated shows. There was a FMV-game called Cliff Hanger, that used scenes from a Lupin III Movie. And the game shown in this video has elements inspired from that same movie. If you don’t know „Castle of Cogliostro“, you really have something to look forward too.

By some miracle I actually discovered this game a few years ago, I don't remember if I found it randomly playing games in MAME, or if a YT channel showcased it. Either way, it's a rather unique game experience for sure, as I've never played anything quite like it. Hey Patman, thanks for introducing this great title to an even larger audience, as it deserves at least a look, as I don't think it was released with much fanfare originally.

Another game I've never heard of but am loading up in MAME RIGHT FRIGGIN' NOW! Thanks for uncovering yet another gem, Patman! I have to say what really struck me besides the Indiana Jones tributes were several Ghibli movie homages as well. In particular, the giant decaying robot you fight in the waterfall reminded me strongly of the God Warriors from Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind.

Patman! Big fan! Thank you for delving into this game's history... I once discovered this game, via emulation, and I couldn't believe what I was playing...! It instantly became one of my all-time favourites, and every time I play it, I complete it, with unlimited credits... An absolute masterpiece. I'll always wonder how an Atari 2600 version would've turned out, too... Much love, from Jason, in England. ⚡🎮🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🇬🇧😁

Similar to Growl, this game is an absolute must play if you're a fan of classic arcade action titles. I also appreciate the research you put into this Pat because the first time I played this game about 10 years ago, I was perplexed at how this was a game by Data East of all people and not something from say Konami. Not to dunk on Data East because they made memorable above average games but this style of over the top action is uncharacteristic to their usual style. Low and behold, behind this game were some of the key people that eventually worked with Konami and then onward to Treasure which makes perfect sense now. Thanks for bringing some much needed attention to this game because it is seldom discussed when it should be praised as one of the greats of all time. 😇

Love you Patman, but I don't believe the English version removed the cutscenes. My English/International version of this game (arcade rom) features all the cutscenes completely translated into English... maybe some English-translated regions removed the cutscenes and some didn't? Regardless, from what I can tell, the cutscenes in my version with English text throughout the game are completely intact and identical with the Japanese version. ✌🏾
