If Brumel had not been injured in an accedent He would have beaten Fosbury

You can't say that for sure. His WR was 1.5 inches of what Fosbury did at the OG. There is no guarantee he would jump better than or at his WR which he would have to have done.

@@veridicusmaximus6010 In 1962 Brumel cleared 7-5 3/4 with six inches to spare its on film, anyone with 20/20 vision can see he is nowhere close to the bar. His injury happens in 1964. I believe the world never saw what could have been his best jump. Imagine him floping into foam rubber instead of straddling into sawdust

@@NickPycks6 Nothing guaranteed at these heights/level. Foz cleared some of his jumps easily as well and always rose to the occasion in big meets. Not sure it would have done Brumel any good to change styles so soon. Brumel was incredible but its not a forgone conclusion he would have won that day.

@@veridicusmaximus6010 OK, but what we do know all these years later "for sure" is Brumel's best jump was higher than Foz's best jump without changing styles. In the speculative mode, look at the 1962 film of Brumel sailing 6 inches above 7-5 & 3/4 and direct me to a film of Foz jumping competitively with that.

@@NickPycks6 True but also all the best jumps since are with the new style and Foz retired after 69 at very young age. Who knows what he could have done if he stayed competitive. I'm simply saying it is not a forgone conclusion that Brumel would have won that day.
