It was live 07 that killed the franchise. Although 2K first outsold live with 2k9, EA really stumbled out of the gates with the 360 and ps3. This gave 2K the opening they desperately needed and they ran with it.

Totally agree. Both Madden and Live were terrible launch games for 360/ps3. The ps2 versions were undeniably still better than the next gen versions until Madden and Live 08. Meanwhile after playing 2k6 on a 360/PS3 it was impossible to go back to the ps2 version. Ironically i believe this happened with the latest generation also. Nothing about Madden(im not gonna even mention Live) for PS4/XBONE made it so much better than its 360/PS3 counterpart besides graphics. While 2k14 was very hard to play on a 360 or PS3 after experiencing it on a next gen system.

NBA Live 10 was my last EA based basketball game and it wasn't necessarily a bad product I definitely had my fun on the game. When 2k11 came around it was over for live, the whole Jordan feature on the game produced some of the best memories I've had on a basketball game.

I only bought 1 Live ever since the very first NBA 2K. I bought Madden in both 04 and 05, but I felt NFL 2K was the better game both of these years. Madden didn't even get a decent upgrade from their early 200s game play until like 2010 or some ish. They finally added some new stuff again for the newest one. I really like how you mentioned that Live has not caught up with making players shots unique. Few weeks ago I purchased NBA Live 19 just to try it out mostly because I heard good and bad. First thing I noticed was how generic the layups and dunks felt. Example: Dwight Howard and John Wall can do the same type of layups and dunks. Normal, Spins and fancy types were all the same animations. That killed the game for me.

That was due to the fact of being rushed and booted over to the new console.

Started to play old NBA games this month. I was about to comment I loved NBA Live 07 when you said it was an abomination, LOL. EA did too, Madden and NBA Live were made by two completely different studios. Madden has been EA Tiberon for years and NBA Live is EA Canada. So 2k "just focusing" on NBA 2k is false, did they add some of the NFL 2k dev team to their team? maybe? But remember 2k also made an MLB and Hockey game through 2013 (hockey 2010) where they were still clearly better than Live in Hoops from 06 on... So no, EA's big mistake isn't the NFL exclusive license. It's the fact their devs don't know how to make a basketball game. Their tech for NBA live seems outdated and like you mentioned, their players don't play like the real life counterparts.

I don't understand how ppl want another EA sports game, Madden is UNFINISHED compared to NBA 2K. I like football more but I play 2K WAYYYY much more than Madden. And that's bc it's more in depth and the attention to detail really adds to the game feeling authentic. Ppl complain abt 2K, we'll take a look at Madden, it has everything wrong with it.

And if your argument is online gameplay/pay to win online, so is Madden, but worse. And offline in 2K compared to madden is WAY better, more logic in 2K (in both games "franchise" modes)

The only reason 2K20 isn't the worst one in the series is because 2K18 existed. The last time 2K put out back to back decent games in this series was 2K10 and the pinnacle known as 2K11. This series is shit now and Take Two has to take the blame for it being the greedy assholes they are.

This is exactly why E.A is scared to death of 2k making a yearly NFL game. EA absolutely had to buy the NFL gaming rights bc they can't compete. They cant lose their lootbox, I meant Madden now can they??
