The History of Kith

Kith was founded by Ronnie Fieg back in 2011, and over the past decade it has grown to become one of the largest brands and retail stores in the world. In this episode of Threaducation we’ll talk about how Ronnie started off working in the backroom of a shoe store and eventually became one of the biggest names in the sneaker industry and the fashion industry. We’ll be tracking it all the way from his first collection to his first fashion show at New York Fashion Week, and we’ll also touch on many of his collabs including ones with Nike, Adidas, Asics, Versace, as well as so much more. Whoever tf is running Adidas is a fucking genius. They are ahead of the game on everything they’re always creating trends and doing everything first. Nike is just as innovative but Someone very high up in adidas has a taste for style that is unmatched by anyone else in the industry.

I remember Ronnie when he first opened up the shoe section in the back of Atrium. Had all the heat. One of the first guys to carry all the Red Wings and other fly work boots. Then they expanded to include clothes, coffee table books, fragrances, etc. That's when Kith really popped off. The store he has now is dope but the heat and buzz Ronnie had when he was in the back of Atrium will never be duplicated. It became a meeting place for all the tastemakers. Saturdays at KITH were amazing. WATTBA. Only misstep Ronnie has made, IMO, is when he bought Atrium, got rid of the front where all the clothes were, and made it into an ice cream and cereal store. I never understood how he thought that was a good idea. Besides that he's been money.

Thanks for this!!! KITH is across the street from my home. I often see massive lines to get into the store but, old person that I am, I had no clue what was going on there and no interest in finding out (the cereal bar was very confusing). Now I think I'll run across the street and check out this apparently iconic store! Side note, Kith is next door to a store called Vinnie's that sells similar items and (to my untrained eye) seems just as succesful. I haven't gone to that store either, I'll check it out too!

Great video but a few things are off. The First Kith store open in the back of the Atrium store (they had their own entrance) in the Village. He then open Kith women's across the street. It was a very small location but he wanted to give woman an exclusive location. Atrium would than open in Brooklyn. Kith became a part of the store. Inevitably Atrium would go out of business. So Kith ended up taking over the entire space.
