this video helped me better understand walter as an art designer, not a fashion designer. Personally, I don't like walter's clothes but appreciate his perspective and how he projects his art ideas onto the fashion.

Why is there a distinction between “artist using fashion” and “fashion designer”? Must “fashion designers” adhere to cut-and-sew or haute couture to be a “fashion designer”?

I was living in Rome in the late nineties and bought a number of W< pieces. Beautiful, unique and extremely different. I loved them immediately and continue to wear them to this day.

Amazing video , I just wanted to say I own a pair of pants from the short-lived Walter Worldwide label. This video made me understand the tag finally. Loved the pants but this makes me love them more.

Thanks so much for the video, the quality is as good as ever! ❤ Really sad to see the youtube ranging the channel criminally low and viewcount being that small, your approach deserves way more and I’m confident that the best time for the channel lies forward

Fashion is kid of ridiculous in a sense. You have to stand out and come up with things that have never been done before to captivate the audience. But this becomes more and more difficult and seems less about the clothes themselves and good design then hype and shock. Also the clothes become more and more impractical. Meanwhile billions of people wear almost the same clothing. It's like what you are doing doesn't matter that much anyways. The real value is in the "boring" designs, they actually get worn by millions of people. These outlandish shows and clothes are mostly for fancy. Not hating on them but I feel like this need to reinvent the wheel for something that has to be worn and therefore is more about form and function than uniqueness kind of misses the point and puts unnecessary pressure on designers.
@ayodeledavid3034 Жыл бұрын
I feel exactly what you’re saying, except the “boring designs” part, personally I wished designers focused on clothing that was more pratical and stylish at the same time, what guys like Alexa Chung and Peter do are doing, rather than focusing on outlandish designs and trying to appeal to luxury celebrities, clothing that can have new cuts and is better sustainable and stylish at the same time
@ayodeledavid3034 Жыл бұрын
That’s exactly what I hope to do if i every have money to go into fashion, practicality form and sustainability in clothing
@hansmemling7605 Жыл бұрын
@@ayodeledavid3034 I completely agree.
@hansmemling7605 Жыл бұрын
@@ayodeledavid3034 sustainability is a huge one for me. I feel like a lot of brands are trying to greenwash themselves by trying to make sustainable clothing, which I applaud, but if your product is not meant to be truly worn or is part of a trend that dies in few months, then how sustainable is it really?
@ayodeledavid3034 Жыл бұрын
@@hansmemling7605 yeah that’s true too, that’s why I feel like we need sustainable brands that are actually decent and timeless so they are sustainable and don’t go out of style especially fast fashion clothing that normal people wear everyday, if the T-shirt and trousers we wear everyday are sustainable that would do more for the planet because fast fashion is one of the biggest polluters we have

I find it interesting how Hollywood chooses to make fun of particular fashion designers…. Zoolander’s Mugatu is clearly mocking WVB…. The Incredibles movie’s antagonist is clearly mocking Rei Kawakubo…. But why? Aren’t these fashion designers typically ideologically aligned with Hollywood, particularly in regards to anti-Capitalist, Feminist, and anti-White sentiments?
