Just bought one in C, and so far it plays, sounds, and feels great. I also dig the super nice zippered neoprene case, makes it very pocket-able, ie no hard corners poking out. "Is that a harmonica in your pocket, or are you just glad to see me?"

I play the harmonica since 2 years, i don‘t practice regulary, i just play a little bit here, a little bit there and get very happy, when something new is growing and when i can ad something very little to my „play“. Today, i am so „skilled“, that my wife no longer want‘s to kill or at least bann me from the house where we live in :-) I started with a „blues harp“ from hohner, because the local store had no others in stock. Last week i grab my crossover and, as kind of a advanced beginner, i must say that this thing is just great! Between the two harmonicas i tryed a lee oscar because i was thinking, playing, bending etc. would be easyer because of the bigger holes and the plastic cone. Lee oscars are different, not bad, not better. I „came back“ to the blues harp, it is sweeter and more precise, so i feel. The crossover is more similar to the blues harp, but worlds better in anything! I write this, because i want to to tell from a „better beginner“ to bare beginners, that this may be one of the best choices they can make. There is no real „beginner harp“ put there, just a big bunch of similar, different instruments. This one here is for everyone, not only for the pros! 👌🏻 and it‘s a great instrument! I love it very much and playing makes even more fun than before, the touch of the soul is much stronger, the feeling so much deeper. Have fun with it, you‘ll love it!

I've been playing blues harmonica for 60 years (from a holder while playing guitar mostly). When I started playing, Marine Band harps were exactly one dollar each. Over the years I found that if I wanted to be sure I had one good one in a certain key I had to buy 4 or 5. Some would be too tight, some would have a bad reed, some would just stick right away, etc. Maybe one out of 4 would be live and in tune, with all the notes working well. Same goes for any and all models and brands of harps, by the way - as far as I know anyway. And, as far as I know nothing has changed in that regard except the price has gone up by something like a factor of thirty. Played hard, any harmonica can well fail catastrophically within 4 hours - necessitating changing out a reed plate.

Just put my lips to the Hohner Crossover harmonica in the Key of G for the first time. I have had to adjust the reeds as it was losing too much air from the excessive reed offset. Sounds so much better mow. Another thing I noticed was the bamboo comb isn't totally flat. slight machining groves in-between the the reeds allow air to escape. Will have to sand that totally flat when I can. Other than that it sounds crisp and clear. Oh, another annoyance is the sharp edges on the covers. Saying tha

Ok, I have played the original Honer MB and a few Suzuki's, I ordered one Crossover in D, I love it! It's easier to play and louder, and for me (amateur) bending notes is a lot easier, I'm now retiring my older harps and replacing them with crossovers! I'm not hearing any tuning problems, and neither are any musicians that I have played with. Just try one, you'll see what I'm talking about.

Why do you think it's easier to bend notes on the Crossover? I assume the reed plates are the same as for regular Marine Bands.

There not the same. I also believe the bamboo coomb has something to do with it. It's a fact fpr me, I can play the hell out of this crossover, compared to m,anu other harps. Just get one you will see.

Ich spiele erst seit knapp 2 Jahren Mundharmonika also nicht so Erfahren wie andere aber die Crossover ist ein spitzen Modell. Angefangen habe ich mit der Big River Harp von Hohner und seit ein Jahr spiele ich die Crossover, sie kann man denn ganzen Tag spielen ohne das einem der Mund wehtut. Von Werk aus kann man die Bends und Blasbends ohne weiteres spielen das Einstellen der Löseabstände ist total einfach ohne die Harp auseinander zu bauen so sollte es auch sein. Reinigen und Stimmen einfach klasse sehr einfach verschraubt, das spielen geht Butterweich werde mir noch die anderen Tonlagen auch noch kaufen jetzt spiele ich nur die in C- Dur. Einziger Kritik- Punkt Man sollte auch ein Video in Deutsch auf youtube hochladen gerade in Sachen Workshop. Gruß an Hohner

Ich denke man sollte es als Werbung insgesamt auch für die Marine Band selbst sehen! Marcos Coll hat evtl. ne MBDL, Joe Filisko eine Classíc von sich selbst getunt usw. Man sollte das möglicherweise entspannt sehen. Die Crossover hat durch den Bambuskanzellenkörper rein wartungsseitig einen Quantensprung gemacht - die MBDL war immer nur teilversiegelt. Aber die Marine Band war ohnehin immer ne Referenz...

I love my crossover. I love my MB Deluxe. Other than the comb material, what’s the difference? Seems very similar. Same side vents. Same triple supports. Same reeds? MBD is twenty bucks cheaper! I guess it’s only the pear wood vs bamboo that differentiates the two models.

And the tuning. The deluxe is geared towards chords. The crossover has a more exact soloist tuning

Its like a tuned blues harp , much easier to to get a decent sound my blues harp gets deadvspotsvafter a few nin of playing . The crossover just seems right from the box theres a few sharp edges at the back ens but its nice

Ciao, Steve i've just bought a cross over in the key of D, C and G... C and D are Ok! but G is not very good on 2 draw....is it me as a beginer? or is a trouble with the harmonica? hole 1 draw, instead, is very good. What can i do? I 'm playing in G to learn bending that is easier than C

2 draw is always harder. You need more air on G.

Just got one, I’m a professional harp player this thing has way to many very sharp edges! Especially back corners of the cover plates , it’s a deal breaker. Hohner Rocket is far more comfortable in every way!

I bought hohner marine band deluxe key of G and C im so pissed off with those bouth of them. funny sound coming from reefs also thouching to cover plate.. and i dont know how to do it. thats why i felt bad with that much money i paid. im not happy with you HOHNER..and also i cant give it back cos came from england..

IM sure it plays and sounds good , BUT it is so sad how much they cost, a poor kid cant buy a decent blues harp any more, 50 60 70 80 bucks what a sad world we live in Where Greed Is the real prime objective...
