Hello. I'm the guy who made the analog horror series (yeah it looks awful for some people) and i didn't expect someone to make a video about it, nice. Looking back at it i cringed at few parts of the series but i appreciate the feedback you just did there on my series. I might plan on continuing the series and sorry if my grammar sucks, english is not my native language.

Yeah, I paused the video for this comment. The Portal ARG was fascinating, utilizing websites, codes, and even hidden messages buried in the game using obscure data formats! (search for "Slow Scan Television", folks.) The early 2000's was the golden era of ARG's.

A correction here, Its not the Gel that killed Cave Johnson, it's ground up moon rocks that poisoned him and killed him, It's also why Chell knows why to launch a Portal on the moon against the fight with Wheatley. He says in one of his recordings that ground up moon rocks is pure poison, but also makes for a great portal conductor.

I always wanted to see an Analog Horror series about Portal It has a lot more potential for Analog Horror more than TF2, and Left 4 Dead. Behind Cave Johnson's charismatic character and voice, lays behind a nightmare dungeon of a science facility. Freakin' humans were turned into mantis mutants, that's some Happy Meat Farms level horror and it goes pass our heads. Carolin was forced into being turned to GLaDOS, imagine how they had to kidnap and bind her, plug things into her head to upload her brain into *that thing.* And the robots, can feel everything.. We even know there was a cut voice recording of "Carolin being 'persuaded' to put her inside a computer" J.K Simmons (Cave's VA) refused to do the lines due to how dark it got Ellen MacLain did agree to do Carolin's lines which is how we got the only evidence of that cut voice recording we were suppose to hear.

The portal characters can be TERRIFYING under certain context for example I had a dream where my steamdecks ssd got corrupted and when I booted it up it essentially just played the turrets from aperture tapes in mass (the one with the eyeball) but there was also a half broken down GLaDOS but what I found the scariest is that GLaDOS was talking TO ME it felt a lot like those “scary” anti piracy screens

So I think author gives quite good theory about Glados. Yes, she wasn't recognized in series it seems, but I believe she is out there, maybe not in her form as in game series. I believe what author was trying to say is that Caroline after taking control on facility, started helping scientists with upgrades on equipment, like with Borealis (in original texture of documents they were signed by glados), and especially turrets. But with the latter she made brainmap of employees and trapped them inside of these machines, without anyone (almost) knowing

This *is* what happens in the games. The cores DEFINITELY have people’s brains in them (or at least it’s very strongly implied given the missing astronauts and the space core), and the turrets at the very least have both emotions and an “empathy chip”

​@@artandstuffproductions3640not really, the implication is moreso that cave invested a lot into ai and (like most modern tech corporations) tried to put sentient ai into every equipment possible. the personality constructs were made as ai modules to represent emotions (to modify glados' emotional behaviors), not as uploads of consciousness. the space core can't even be a missing astronaut because none of the timeline would allow that; aperture lost access to astronaut test subjects in the 70s after the missing astronauts case, which was a decade before they even started ai development

As a Portal fan, I've noticed that this analog horror has a lot of stuff that's incorrect to the original Portal games. For example, they probably would have used Cave Johnson's voice (Or the announcer's if Johnson was dead when they made those) instead of that robotic voice that's overused in Analog Horror. And also, I believe that the time when Caroline was turned into GLaDOS was in the 1990s, not the 1980s.

I imagine possible scenes if I would be creating such horror... For example making a theory of human parts in companion cubes as truth, and then by mistake of chamber design the test subject meets emancipation grill, and all human parts are falling on floor after cube itself was disintegrated (yeah, he was already got attached I think, it would be traumatic as hell)... Or what about incident of closing a portal when a person is between two of them? Or that emancipation grill itself would glitch and start disintegrate human's skin? How about to finally cleanly show us the process of uploading Caroline into system (I prefer to think there were nanobots involved, it can't be a simple digital clone nor disconnected alive brain, would be designed like acid or something)? And my favourite part of Portal 1 design... ORGANIC-LIKE EYES IN EVERY OPTICAL DEVICE...

Note about the Prometheus thing: In Portal 2, in one of the chapters you go through the incineration conveyer. There you can pick up a turret that says "I'm different"(its called Oracle Turret), if you save it from the fire, it will start saying different things related to next chapters. One of it's quotes are: "Prometheus was punished by the gods for giving the gift of knowledge to man. He was cast into the bowels of the earth and pecked by birds" There are speculations that Oracle Turret is the reincarnation of Cave Johnson considering it knows Caroline and also says "Don't make lemonade" I suppose that this analog horror explores that idea. At the very least, the last episode.
