As a ex underground miner - electrician, I've worked in situations such as these in closed 'drives', 'cross cuts', 'stopes', etc, in operational mines and these places are creepy. Sound can travel klms through the 'ground' but not these sort of sounds. It is usually the hammering of the Jumbo Drill Rigs or the Air Leg Miners working nearby or distant. Nevertheless these locations are un-nerving, especially if the mine has a bad 'history'. Great video👍.

I'm a mine surveyor. One time we were pumping out an old mine to try to get to the bottom of it, and around 8pm I'd go down and check the water level. I went down and I swear to God I heard a LHD coming down I thought maybe it was one of the miners coming to check on me cause they say my truck at the portal. I saw a light against the ribs of the mine and everything, then nothing. I walked up and nobody around, I asked them the next day if they went down around 8pm and they said nope they were sleeping. Freaky.

All I can say about the Horton mine is. I grew up about a little over an hour North of here. There are mines all over the place around here. I actually worked at a Mine Site and was a Base Operator at an Open Pit mine. I was in charge of many duties, but one was Monitoring the Radio, CB that was connected with about 2 or 3 different operations within a 3 mile radius. I would hear calls out all day, from Blasting Crew, Equipment, Trucking Runs etc.. I will say I've never heard anything quite like this. Sometimes underground if they are blasting, they will call out and radio to blaster to make sure Det is good. Once everything is cleared and in place, then they sound an alarm system throughout the mine. What was really interesting about this was though, the time frame that it all happened in. I've heard det and blasting calls, worker det radio clearance many times. But almost every single time in every single occasion. There is always a fair time lapse between actual Det and Clearance For Det. Whole lot of things gotta be a oked first before det and even before alarm is sounded after clearance as well. Very strange to me. Can't say exactly what this whole situation was caused from. It doesn't sound like a normal Det blast procedure.

If it's Equipment failure, I think we'd have to assume it was a Handheld type of CB radio. That had communication with Blast and Det. The thing about it was, if it's just some radio that was lost somehow and he recorded a fluke of a radio failure ? Why wasn't it working at all before ? Cause I guarantee you, there should of been some off and on radio chatter from that Device, if that's what it was. And especially should of been heard from any other visitors after this. I don't believe there was any kind of P.A. System in this Mine Shoot from an Open Surface Pit. No real need for them. If they did any blasting in that shaft or entrance, they would just communicate to each other without radio more than likely. For everyone to exit the Mine, or Mine site area, while Blast and Det did their thing. Which is Standard Procedure, which could of Easily been communicated on a Handheld Radio at the time. Not sure they were used when this Horton Mine was still in operation though, Early 80's ? Late 70's. So to me, it's incredibly doubtful there's a system connected to any Underground Blasting Det communications. The timing between Det radio siren and communications of these two people talking seem very very very out of the ordinary for me, who has a lot of Mining Experience, Especially Mine Communications Experience and having to take Radio call ins and do directs as well as Radio Monitor. To me it's a huge Mystery. One which cannot be easily explained

I currently work at Consol's Bailey Mine at their Dry Ridge portal in Cameron, WV (This is a PA mine. Crabapple portal is in PA and connects to the WV portal underground) and we still use the ventilation tubes like the ones shown.

I live in Kingston Nevada the town just a couple miles from here.I have been in a lot of old abandoned mine shafts in the area and been working in gold mines for years.This mine has been shut down sense the late 70s to early 80s the power lines are not connected and any batterys would have gone bad by now. When you go into mine shafts they are naturally creepy because they are old abandoned mines. me and a friend went into this mine shaft years ago. we did not make it more then 30ft in without turning around it did have a creepy and bad vibe to it which I have not got that kind of feeling in any other mines I have been in. We seen orange eyes which we figure might be a mountain lion so that was the reason we turned around. but I can say we were very uncomfortable before we seen the eyes and would have turned around even if we did not see the eyes.

It just doesn't add up. Either he (again) stumbled into an area that has paranormal qualities, or he faked the whole thing. It doesn't seem as though he is lacking in subscribers, as a motivation for hoaxing such an event. He hasn't focused on anything creepy at all. Simple premise: trusted party has 2 people go to the top mine to verify no one else is there. 2 other people go in and leave a fully charged LED lantern and a GoPro cabled to a battery pack. They're plentiful and relatively inexpensive. Reconvene outside and wait the duration of the GoPro's recording time capacity, or just a couple hours. At least 2 go back in and retrieve the GoPro and lantern. There's your story of what could go on in there. It'll record something or not. Rinse and repeat if nothing gets recorded and there you have it. Right? Yeh, screw it. this one's goin' on the list for retirement (soon). Just gotta respect the environment - if it's dangerous, don't go/further. Hopefully it'll still be explorable.

I've a background in audio engineering. I'll try and clean this up more and figure out what the guy is saying later. Ps. i am really starting to like this channel He is definitively in just for the sake of exploration. Just a quick post. I'm an audio engineer and I would confirm that this video is completely real. If you listen closely to the audio in this clip, you can hear his camera mic pick up reverb from the cave, including water dripping. When the strange radio sounds started happening, you hear them reverb out of the cave through the exact same space. Though, you could add reverb to a sound which is edited in, it would almost certainly be a challenge to replicate this exact room to make the sound "blend in" to the original audio. Also another completely obvious sign of audio manipulation is when people dub scary music or sounds into their videos. This is basically a clear sign that whoever made the video is intending to creep you out. This video did none of the things that I would constitute as a hoax...and leaves me wondering if another trip to this mine might reveal the source of that terrifying mining alarm.

Those were the supports for the belt line. the alcove to the Right (?) was most likely a power hole which the put a transformer on for the belt feeder. There was no Ram car or other for this short of a haul. and I agree with Howard, it was a PA system from either above or close enough. Rock is a great sound conductor. That's why they tell you if you get trapped to bang on the roof bolts so they can hear you on the surface if you are far enough out in a mine and become trapped. All that being said, from an experienced UG miner...this is just an old works and really isn't much. The mine that I worked in was started in 1934...we did the same and went back into the old works from the bottom of the first shaft. Ive seen some shit, I wish I would have recorded it for youtube, but it was many years ago and phones have come such a long way.
