Me and my best mate were a bit stoned one night flicking through music channels (must have been around 2009) this comes on and we were in tears of laughter, it became our anthem and we used to sing it whilst trying to also do the harmonising. He passed a couple of months ago of a brain tumour so this song hits even stronger now ❤

It felt like no one knew about the Housemartins back in 1980's California. I'm a sucker for smart lyrics and was hooked from the start. Paul's writing is so full of imagery and his voice is so distinctive. You can still hear a touch of Housemartins in the first two BS albums. This video is one of my favorites.

From SoCal, I spent some time in Paris in the 80s. One morning I see my friend Rebecca (also from SoCal and a heavy metal & classical guitarist) wearing a Housemartins pin on her jacket. I asked, What's that?" She replied, "I met these guys in a bar last night and we talked about music for a few hours." I bought their album (maybe EP) when I got home.

@@ricksoutside5378 I never got the opportunity to see them in concert. Only watched them preforming in a park, on the television, in London. I think that was 1985. I did see The Beautiful South at the Troubadour in 1989. An amazing show, Paul did the Popeye dance as he sang, When I'm 84. I waited after for the band to sign a 12 inch single of, I'll Sail this Ship Alone. Still have it. I should frame it.

This song just struck my head this morning. Have neither heard it or thought of it for decades. Must be the lyrics reaching out to the time we're living in. I never had the single or anything of Housemartins and back then I wouldn't care much, but you couldn't avoid hearing Caravan Of Love daily in 1986. A timeless song of it's time and one of the really nice tunes from the 80's. I think I'll bring it in to the jam-sett, and make it a reggae.

The world isn't broken, yet. It just needs the right people to "Stand up". Then we will recover from what has been so damaging. As Labi Siffri says "There's something inside so strong" and if the right people realise this then we will be ok. We need to concentrate on what is important to humanity, not "views and likes" but caring for our world and looking after each other.

Well, that's encouraging ! You should introduce her to other vocal styles, choral singing ect. Old religious stuff (I'm atheist, but I like choirs). Mozart's Requiem Mass is quite good, until about the 5th movement. Some music historians believe his student completed the work, there is a definite change around 5 verses in, I usually only listen till that point.

This is so high school. I was only student who for who knows why. But i liked it for some reason. I remmber in music class playing it an everyone in class laughed an said omg! U really are a jesus freak. with pride i just stood there an said now that i am. An quietly went back to my desk. No one really botherd me much after that. I was just an outcast who sat in far corner of the scool feild. Watching everyone else sitting in there groups of friends. Neva worried me then never worries me now. its gd to have a few gd frinds in life but if u can go without company i soon learn hw to find ir own peace without finding it in others.

Are you ready, are you ready? Are you ready, are you ready? Are you ready for the time of your life? It's time to stand up and fight It's alright it's alright Hand in hand we take a caravan to the motherland One by one we gonna stand up with pride One that can't be denied Stand up, stand up From the highest mountain, valley low We'll all join together with hearts of gold Now the children of the world can see There's a better place for us to be The place in which we were born So neglected and torn apart Every woman every man Join the caravan of love (Stand up) stand up Stand up Everybody take a stand Join the caravan of love (Stand up) stand up Stand up I'm your brother I'm your brother don't you know She's my sister She's my sister don't you know We'll be living in a world of peace And the day when everyone is free We'll bring the young and the old Won't you let your love flow, from your heart Every woman every man Join the caravan of love (Stand up) stand up Stand up Everybody take a stand Join the caravan of love (Stand up) stand up Stand up I'm your brother I'm your brother don't you know She's my sister (we're waiting, we're waiting) She's my sister don't you know (we're waiting, we're waiting for the caravan) So are you ready? (he's coming) Are you ready? (he's coming) Are you ready? (he's coming) Are you ready? (he's coming on the caravan) You better get ready (go for it) You better get ready (go for it) You better get ready (go for it) You better get ready
