Me and my best mate were a bit stoned one night flicking through music channels (must have been around 2009) this comes on and we were in tears of laughter, it became our anthem and we used to sing it whilst trying to also do the harmonising. He passed a couple of months ago of a brain tumour so this song hits even stronger now ❤

It felt like no one knew about the Housemartins back in 1980's California. I'm a sucker for smart lyrics and was hooked from the start. Paul's writing is so full of imagery and his voice is so distinctive. You can still hear a touch of Housemartins in the first two BS albums. This video is one of my favorites.

From SoCal, I spent some time in Paris in the 80s. One morning I see my friend Rebecca (also from SoCal and a heavy metal & classical guitarist) wearing a Housemartins pin on her jacket. I asked, What's that?" She replied, "I met these guys in a bar last night and we talked about music for a few hours." I bought their album (maybe EP) when I got home.
@leisurerefugee509016 күн бұрын
@@ricksoutside5378 I never got the opportunity to see them in concert. Only watched them preforming in a park, on the television, in London. I think that was 1985. I did see The Beautiful South at the Troubadour in 1989. An amazing show, Paul did the Popeye dance as he sang, When I'm 84. I waited after for the band to sign a 12 inch single of, I'll Sail this Ship Alone. Still have it. I should frame it.

This song just struck my head this morning. Have neither heard it or thought of it for decades. Must be the lyrics reaching out to the time we're living in. I never had the single or anything of Housemartins and back then I wouldn't care much, but you couldn't avoid hearing Caravan Of Love daily in 1986. A timeless song of it's time and one of the really nice tunes from the 80's. I think I'll bring it in to the jam-sett, and make it a reggae.

The world isn't broken, yet. It just needs the right people to "Stand up". Then we will recover from what has been so damaging. As Labi Siffri says "There's something inside so strong" and if the right people realise this then we will be ok. We need to concentrate on what is important to humanity, not "views and likes" but caring for our world and looking after each other.

Ahoi and Namasté to all unique fellow beings: "Nothing is like you, nothing was like you and nothing will ever be like you." Do not forget, beloved ones, for every being is essentially wonderful. Love, best regards and a wonderful Valentine's Day. Thank you Housemartins for this everlasting wonderful song and Laserdisc70 for loading it up.

only started listening today - had downloaded 'now that's what i call good' - while on a bike ride and I'm an instant convert. brilliant, I wish I'd known and had been listening to this music when released, but I was young and not into music at that time, well, good music.

Great song that should've been the Christmas No.1 of 1986. In the week ending 27 December 1986, it was knocked off the No.1 spot after just one week by "Reet Petite" from Jackie Wilson.
