I feel this is a hold my beer song. I heard the original recently for the first time in awhile. I was surprised on how soft musical it is. The Hu made this song heavy. The first song that popped in my head for them to cover was peace sells but coming from them it would seem ironic.

That 2 stringed instrument is mongolian traditional instrument that named Horse head fiddle ( Morin Khuur) . Strings made as Horse tail. And this guitar type of instrument is Mongolian traditional instrument aswell that named Tovshuur. Check out other song of The Hu. Specially "Sugaan essana" Goodluck :)

7:21 I got such chills when the shadows were inside the shaman's drum. If I understand the context in Mongol and Tuvan culture, those are frightful curses one brings on themselves through greed and selling where spiritual power should be. Watch Genghis Blues, the movie, if you want another glimpse of the powerful symbolism they brought to this - in Tuva, they would say that drum "has a tail" because someone's misused it! This is awesome cultural conversation. Our friends from Mongolia are in the kitchen borrowing some ingredients, but they brought their recipe, and they came to call out some fool's gold with songs we thought we fully knew. DAMN.

The Hu did an amazing job with this song. Have you heard Sabaton's En lifstid I krig (Live in Gothenburg) The video has subtitles in English so you can understand what they are singing as they sing the song. The Swedish version tells the story of a Swedish soldier and his thoughts as he goes to war for his country in the 30 years war, also known as the Reformation war. They also did the song in English, called A Lifetime of War which tells the story of the 30 years war through the eyes of Europe as a whole. Sabaton if you don't know of the they focus on events and indevisuals in wars that have happened and deeds during war and the tales of heroesm. They have they have their own history channel called Sabaton History and is in colab with The TimeGhost Army Channel where they tell the stories behind their songs. Another song I can highly recommend is Sabaton's No bullets fly by yurnhub. Shows the humanity that can take place in times of war between enemies. Hope you enjoy :)

To answer your question, I'd flip out if The HU would cover Iron Maiden's the Trooper or Hallowed Be Thy Name. The Trooper they could do no questions asked, Hallowed Be Thy Name might be a train wreck or might be GLORIOUS. I'd bet on Glorious. if you like this kind of style you should check out Wagakki Band, they combine traditional Japanese sound and vocals with modern pop/rock, they have also performed with Amy Lee! I would recommend Senbonzakura or Sakura Rising(the song they did with Amy Lee), very cool band you should check out!

Nice reaction to a great cover. You might want to ask Jason Newstead about how "nice" James, Kirk and Lars are as people. Metallica lost my respect for them as people when they spearheaded the music industry's campaign against the free advertising provided by Napster and other peer-to-peer sharing services. In an interview about this, Lars said that if people are sharing his music for free then, if they were plumbers or mechanics then he should get their services for free, while failing to notice that Metallica can do one piece of work and sell it over and over and over again, which is totally not true of trades like mechanics and plumbing. So much for "Living on your knees, conformity / or dying on your feet for honesty".

Russians have more appreciation for North/Central Asian and Nordic music. It has worked it's way into Russian music at all levels. From super deep bass singing to coloratura shamanic sounds, and more Siberian Inuit and Kazakh and Turkmen motifs. Olena Uutai, Veronica Usholik, Olox, all have sounds adjacent to Mongolian tradition. And yeah you can't resist chanting. That's deep in all Central Asian DNA.

Goeff Castelluci ones talked in his video about how terribly painful it was to start and slowly learn to do it. which kinda freaked me out, cause nothing in singing should induce pain, but apparently to get to the stage where you can do it it takes some...resilience :)
