The bird is a Great Blue Heron. Many, many such nest and even over-winter here in North Central Indiana. Fantastic birds to observe while they stalk the shallows of rivers, ponds, swamps and such.

A hand pump with that pistol is brilliant! Perfect stash and go setup! I wonder if this pistol is regulated or will be soon? Great shooting either way but especially if not regulated. You're right, friend, but you should be aware of a couple of things: the safety was on and I trust the gun design, I'm familiar with it. And secondly, there was no projectile aligned with the barrel at the time 😉 The mag was half empty.
