It’s not made clear in the movie, but your wife’s comment about the dogs’ faces looking human is intentional. In the book, the dogs are humanoid, their faces resembling each of the tributes that had already died. The Hunger Games series is quite dark, more so than I remember. Anyway, loved seeing you two react together!

One cool thing about The hunger games movies that doesn't really get brought up very often is how good those first two companions soundtracks were. I haven't checked them out in a good while but at the time they got me into a lot of indie bands that I had never heard of beforehand because I live in the middle of Alabama where all you get is country stations and every once in awhile something playing top 40 music. This was also the first time I realized there might be more to Taylor Swift than just being a shallow pop artist.
