He played 90 minutes out of position. He effed up the team's balance by not playing on the wing where he should have been. Every time a teammate got the ball and looked to pass it to him in his normal position, he'd gone AWOL, having not got back from some little adventure into someone else's area of the pitch. He didn't stick to his position and he didn't stick to his assigned role. If he'd played on the right wing, like he was supposed to, England would have won at a canter. Greece had never even scored against us from open play before that match, but the unbalance caused by Beckham being out of position gifted Greece two goals.

I remember this being one of the first games I watched in the pub with some friends. Greece were excellent the whole game. Very strong on the tackles and brilliantly well organised though they gave away a lot of free kicks which is where Becks was such a powerhouse. It was just that touch of class from a couple of players that made the difference to Englands comeback. Definitely one of my all time favourite games!

I have always felt Becks was one of his kind....Not often that players of his calibre are born and they represent a National Team. His game reading, passing range, free kicks were something a team would be proud of. Man Utd, Real Madrid, AC Milan, LA Galaxy PSG and England National team he won showcased his skills everywhere.
