I always thought I could take care of myself. Took defense classes, had my ex-LEO-husband train with me, felt quite confident in what I would do if presented with someone trying to harm me. However ... when confronted with a surprising situation that was potentially harmful, I simply dropped the bag I was carrying, put my hands over my face and tried to scream. Miss-Confident-and-Very-Prepared completely froze, couldn't move and the scream wouldn't even come out. So ... there's that. No one knows how they'll react and you can think you know all you want, but you 100% don't. Until it happens to you. THEN you will know how YOU react, not how that applies to anyone else.

One day I was home sick, and I woke up to 20 police all over my property with a helicopter hovering over the house. They had been chasing a illegal gun and drug dealer who was hiding on my property. I was terrified. As they were looking I walked out to the front yard and discovered him hiding between a trellis and the house. I was rooted to the spot. Mouth didn’t work, nor did my legs.

@@lenamcguire2659 like many others who have been in these types of houses have explained: you don’t call the cops everytime you see an unfamiliar person in your house. This case has made me realize how few people have experienced these “party houses”. In the town I went to school in, they were these big old Victorian homes chopped up in anything from 6-8 bedrooms, two entrances, multiple staircases, main lighting source at night is just a string of Christmas lights or some shit, your roommates let their friends use their bed for threesomes, at least one of your roommates sells weed and MDMA, and people are getting blackout drunk on a Monday night. There can be two separate parties happening in the same house. Seeing someone leave like that might be weird, and you wouldn’t call out to them because you know the person is probably sketchy, but not call the cops level sketchy. It would be the kind of thing that makes perfect sense after the fact. Saying “oh she should have called the cops right away” only tells me that YOU are inexperienced with how these living situations work. The idea that the person she’d seen had just killed her roommates and wasn’t just hooking up with someone or doing a late night drug deal wouldn’t have occurred to her at all. Like I lived in one of these homes in school. So many nights I heard thumps, crying, people I’d never seen leaving…I always poked my head out exactly like DM. Saw nothing. not one of those times had any of my roommates even been assaulted, let alone murdered.

No offence. As former roommate, I did NOT interact with my roommates. Minimal contact, if needed. I kept noise canceling earphones in or played youtube 24/7. People cried over relationships, fought with friends and partners or had parties. I did NOT engage or involve myself. This isn't an American teen movie. A lot of people are going through their own stuff in post secondary and people are NOT trying to get involved with one another, in fact a lot of roommates have beef. Everyone is trying to respect the little privacy these multiple roommate households have. Most houses are owned by one person and the residents have contracts spanning from 3 months, 6 months, 9 months and a year. Sometimes people are new roommates or people leave and you have no clue. People clearly haven't had this experience, based off the attacks on this girl. She was nice to open her door. I can't even imagine doing that. I'd lock my door and put my earphones in. People think they'd do better, insane. All these people who probably live alone or with their parents

@Lilman Yellow I don't think it's really sad or heartless. Moving away for school is hard. It's not the fantasy world people think it is. As if you'll become one big family, these aren't your friends or your classmates and as previously mentioned can be different people month to month. You're young, and on your own for the first time. You're working and going to school and you don't know these people. There aren't formal meet and greets. You're all strangers under a roof, paying way too much for a room. Would you like , if you were having a big fight with a partner for your roommate , who is a stranger to get involved? It's embarrassing. Everyone is trying to be as respectful of privacy and space as possible. Unless someone knocks on your door, you're not trying to intrude on people's buisess. Your idealism on the world is admirable, but what happened isn't a crime of humanity or a deconstruction of society. As Emily said, people like to believe there would be a different outcome or that they would be different. It's clear you've never had to live with strangers, otherwise it would be pretty understandable how this could happen. It's not about being uncaring or cold, it's reality. A lot of people are uncomfortable living with strangers. The etiquette is, you keep as quite as possible, clean, don't narc to the landlord and don't be a pest. Most roommates don't say more than 'hi' or 'bye' unless they are your friends or classmates....which is rare.

Well I wouldn't say right thing. I think she did what she was going to. She probably thought it was just a guest and went back to sleep. I think some ppl are having a hard time that there were 4 murders and no checking on roommates but I think ppl forget it was 12 minutes. That's not long at all. So she probably went back to bed not because she was frozen but bc she didn't know. I also think some ppl are exaggerating way too much about her story, saying she passed out or had trauma or triggered. I've reported someone for acting ppl for just commenting a theory of DM (no insults or bullying) but they think it's okay bc they think they're protecting DM when in reality it's making it worse.

As a tarot card reader I can say, Ashley crosses every ethical boundary I know. IF you did indeed get any information about a crime you, privately, take it to the police, you DO NOT outright call someone a murderer (over 100 videos ) on a damn tic tok channel!
@SnapesHoney28002 жыл бұрын
Exactly, and Tarot cards don't work like she is claiming that they do. You don't get names. You can focus on a person once you have a name. Otherwise it is general information, glimpses, shadows and you can ask for clarification. But it is never set in stone. And you always have to be mindful of the energy you might let in. She is reckless and unethical in her actions.

As a uni student living with others, you kind of expect friends and whoever to be in your house whenever. Maybe she just thought he was a friend or partner of one of her other roommates. She didn’t see any blood, she didn’t see a weapon. Yes he was wearing a face covering but it was cold outside so maybe she thought that wasn’t a big deal? one thing people need to learn about the legal process when it comes to pretrial information is that the investigators will “teach you everything you know, but not everything they know”. speculation is not needed when we don’t know probably 70% of what’s happened in the investigation. there’s a chance they already know why there was a gap between the phone call and the roommate seeing the defendant, why there were parties who didn’t live in the house there that morning when the cops arrived, why it wasn’t the roommate who called when it was their phone, why it was reported as an unconscious person. we don’t know, and we don’t deserve to.

The big question is how loud the murder was and did she hear the murder. If we take the current statement in its entirety, she heard crying. Would that be strange living with that many girls? I'd expect to hear crying from time to time. And she heard some offering help. One would think that might make her less likely to see if anyone needed help. What noise there was eather wasn't loud or unusual enough for her to be curious and investigate. She saw a creepy guy in the house who scared her? Hasn't one of the biggest talking points that there were constantly people coming in and out of the house? I think the fact that there was four victims adds credibility to her story. If the first murders were loud, why wouldn't the other victims call 911 and lock their doors? I honestly don't think I would have called 911 in these circumstances.

I think that if she didn't hear anyone fighting him, the cry was more like a whimper or a few sobs, and if she didn't see BK exiting covered in blood or with a knife in his hand (people are forgetting it was dark), then I feel like after being frozen in shock from seeing someone in their house, she might have just thought some guy broke in to steal something and left with nothing. So why bother calling 911 in that moment? Also, can we be entirely sure her statements were 100% accurate after realizing what had happened and being so traumatized?? Maybe she thought the "someone's here" was coming from upstairs, but it was really Xana. Maybe she actually cried out/whimpered but didn't realize it was herself? (idk if that's possible but again, stressful situation might cause her to remember things differently) Either way, I think people blaming her and saying she should have done this, she should have done that, are wrong. You weren't there. You don't know what the situation was. Also, from what has been reported, it seems there was no chance of saving the 4, even if an ambulance showed up 5 seconds after the attacks.

Here is my OPINION: If/when a court finds this tiktok "sleuth" to have committed defamation, in addition to whatever costs, fees, & fines the court may impose, she should be required to post tiktoks to her account in which she debunks her own claims & explains that the professor & the other student she accused have no connection at all to the quadruple murders. She should be required to post the same number of these debunking tiktoks as she originally posted of tiktoks that mention her bogus defamatory claims, even if she's subsequently deleted the original tiktoks. She should be fined a certain amount per week until all of the required tiktoks are posted, & she should never be allowed to delete any of them on pain of further fines. These fined amounts should go to pay for legal help for the indigent. Merely my OPINION. Thank you SO much for covering this, EDB. I find it disturbing on many levels: as a practitioner of tarot, as a law nerd, as an adjunct to the academic world, as a woman, as a former college student, as a parent...

I think questioning the roommates actions is very reasonable. Placing blame and accusations on her is what isn't.

I don’t think people have been doing well to balance that. A lot of people have gone from some small speculation to outright blame in all the other accusations against unrelated people in this case. It quickly devolved to that against DM. When someone has already been harassed for simply being there, it’s time to just let it go. We’ve speculated enough in the last week for a lifetime based on two sentenced from her witness statement.

I don't agree . She was questioned and cleared by FBI and police . This is bullshit to accuse her or question her in any way .

I also am not saying the questions should even be said out loud (or typed), but again I don't think it's unreasonable to have questions.
