Better Shelter have made thousands of flat-pack homes for refugees around the world. Supported by the Ikea Foundation, the charity aims to improve on the canvas tents in which millions of displaced people have to live.

These innovative temporary structures are a huge improvement over living in tents! Their longevity, weatherproof outer shell and lockable door, together with full standing height give the feeling of a 'proper' house, albeit a compact one. One's dignity and self respect will be improved in one, in comparison to a tent. There's no reason to believe that they won't still be liveable structures after their expected life of five years! Its good to see that accommodation other than tents is being supplied as it will help the individuals that live in them. Thank you for covering this important issue!
