I’ve listened to you speak many times, but I think this is my favorite talk. I loved hearing about Syd Banks’ journey in fuller detail, the bird metaphor, our level of involvement in our thinking becoming our reality/creates the suffering… beautiful, thank you ❤

“The mind is a conjurer.” Buddha “When the mind is quiet, the heart listens.” Buddha This is nothing new. This is why Buddhists watch, observe whatsoever happens to be floating through the mind. By simply watching, witnessing, a distance happens between you and the mind. This distance goes on growing wider and wider and the awareness within you continues to grow and become stronger. This is who you really are, Awareness, not the mind. I read Second Chance by Syd Banks decades ago and really liked it. I’ve read it several times. I’ve read his other books too. Second Chance is my favorite. Well worth reading.

Know the story well, but I enjoy listening to you, Dicken. Thank you for your wisdom and presence.

That was a great explanation. I’d really love to hear about the second realization Syd had, that you referred to. Thank you

Great Video. "Presupposing the existence of a non-existent thing and then wanting to get freedom for that imaginary thing"

This is so helpful. But I wonder about trauma and PTSD which resides in the nervous system more than the brain. Dicken can you address that?

If you cultivate compassion and kind thought, your mind will cleanse the body. Your brain is only the vehicle for mind, thoughts pass through the brain whatever you believe you become, when you are conscious of that, you understand you are not your thoughts, contentment is what is left.

Trauma and PTSD are problems for people when the memories from the original events are activated in the present moment and people don’t realize that it is only a thought creating their experience.

What if it is not residing in the nervous system ?Perhaps the main thing to realize is that thinking creates feelings and thinking light and joyfully with create similar feelings. With that said all the best with living in well-being.

The “creative nothing “: “The Unique and Its Property “, Max Stirner,1844/2017 Landstreicher translation still as good as it gets. “ No idea has existence, because none is capable of embodiment.” “Nothing at all is justified by being.” 180 years ago and no ‘ progress ‘ has been made, nor can be.

100,000 years and 20 billion brains later one brain- Mark McCutcheon:” The Final Theory: Rethinking Our Scientific Legacy “- discovered/published the CAUSE of GRAVITY, electricity, magnetism, light and well.... everything. That’s a genius level event. Now what?

Nothing new. Krishnamurti ‘preached’ this. Milton said: “The Mind is its own place, and in itself can make a heaven of a Hell, a Hell of a Heaven”. Syd ‘reformulated’ other thinkers’ ideas/ psychology etc own

People hear truth differently, depending on who’s sharing it. Some teachers resonate with certain people, and other folks may need to hear truth in a different way, with different language and context. I’ve loved reading Krishnamurti, but I find Syd Banks expression of truth hits me differently and impacts my life in a more practical way. It’s not a competition.
