Wow was surprised by a new video! I'm enjoying the Imjin War mini series! One nit pick though, the Japanese at that time hadn't taken Southwest Korea, namely Jeolla Province, and would try to push into there after supplies couldn't get to the Japanese up north due to the Korean navy under Admiral Yi blockading and destroying the Japanese navy. They would fail though, with the epic losses at the battle of Ichi and Jinju forcing the Japanese to give up Jeolla Province/Southwest Korea. Fyi Jeolla province was where much of Korea's agricultural production was happening so that's why the Japanese tried to conquer it, so they can get food and supplies since they couldn't get it from the sea. But they failed to conquer that so.. that became one of the major factors in the failure of the Imjin campaign.

@@KyoushaPumpItUp The majority of the massacre that happened during the mongol invasion of Tsushima was conducted by the Mongols-Manchus-Chinese. Considering the fact that majority of the soldiers that the Koreans supplied were sailors not foot soldiers. Not trying to deny that the Koreans didn't committed war crimes cause they did during the invasion. However, the brutality that occured during the Mongol invasion is completely miniscule compared to what the Japanese did during the Imjin war. Of course I'm not saying that the war crimes of the mongol invasion should be overlooked but to say that is was "massive" is highly misleading. Considering the fact that the Koreans also suffered the Mongol invasion brutality as well, so its not really surprising. Also I really am tired of seeing this narrative that the Koreans were the ones that supported the mongol invasion of Japan when we have no concrete proof of it. We are all aware that the Koreans even after the agreement of Goryeo joining the Mongol empire many Koreans were against it. There were massive rebellions and even asked the Kamakura shogunate for aid against the mongols. Also, the mongols had interest in conquering Japan way before the reign of King Chungnyeol (who people keep thinking that he was the primary reason why Kublai Khan invaded Japan, just simply not true, there are no evidence and Kublai sent envoys to Japan long before his reign). Also I believe you are referring to the Oei invasion, the only reason why Joseon invaded Tsushima is because of the ever increasing Wokou pirates from Tsushima that keeps on raiding the coast of Joseon. Korea desire was to get rid of the Wokou pirates that the So clan did literally nothing about after they successfully finished their objective. They simply gave up their occupation of Tsushima after a treaty with the So clan.

The Mongols used brutality for psychological warfare. Compared to Mongol territorial expansions, their numbers were actually limited. So they'd ask a city to submit. If they city did submit, they'd leave it unharmed, but if it resisted, then when the city finally fell, they'd absolutely massacre it from top to bottom, so that other cities after that were more likely to capitulate. Also, Japanese actions in Korea during the Imjin war kind of have similar vibes as Japanese atrocities in WW2. 12:00 ... Kato Kiyomasa asking the Koreans for peace after the Japanese had brutally massacring multiple cities/forts to the last man, woman and child. Yeah, the Koreans were totally gonna accept at this point, lol.

I thought Hideyoshi himself was a good strategist, the Japanese also had Tachibana Muneshige, arguably one of the top three generals from the Sengoku Jidai, so I don’t feel the Japanese military was lacking talent. If Hideyoshi lived 15 years longer, I think the Japanese would have a fair chance taking over Korea. At the time Ming dynasty was already going to an end due to corruptions from the inside, and had to deal with other enemies, so Ming might not be able to stop the Japanese from taking over Korea, if Hideyoshi didn’t die early.

Immortal Admiral Yi Sunshin (drama show 2005), Jingbirok: The Book of Corrections (drama show 2015), Imjin War 1592 (drama show 2016), The Admiral (film 2014), and several lesser known dramas/films/shows that I can't remember rn. So quite a few, but mostly from Korea as the Imjin War is more relevant and well known in Korean history than Japanese and Chinese history

Alright, admiral yi! The only Korean hero i heard of lol, BUT what matters is that he is the BEST naval hero on earth I've ever heard of. But speaking of brutality...ugh, heaven doesnt give you the mandate unless you care for the innocent. That brutality seems to have been a longtime part of Japanese history which was revealed also during WWII. BUT, remember the 442nd proved that Japanese devotion to heaven and humane goodness is ever present as well is an ideal for all. Now American brutality is reaching a horrible height and i hope everyone will stand up for our Asian friends and family, that we can make the earth a heavenly place. Its one thing to like the samurai , but will you stand up like one against the horde of American racists, an abomination before heaven ? Its not a hard decision for me

I’ve seen people disparage the invasion, but I can see why he ordered it. You have a country full of warriors, better to turn them on a foreign enemy than to have them stewing around with nothing to do. While it’s awful for the Koreans in my opinion it helped lead to the peace that followed.
