Former Catholic here. Here’s a question I had for a Catholic friend recently; they believe that Mary appeared at Fatima, and every word that she has spoken is believed to be gospel truth. One of the things she said was that more people go to hell over sins of the flesh than any other sin. Recently, pope Francis made an announcement that sins of the flesh aren’t so bad. I asked my Catholic friend who is correct, Mary or the pope? Does he have the authority to override her as she has been declared co-mediatrix with Jesus. That means that you can go through her instead of directly to Jesus for salvation. All she could do was stammer the Magisterium, the Magisterium makes these decisions. Yet, I cannot find a document or statement issue that overrides what Mary supposedly said at Fatima.

I always wondered how old was Josef and if Jesus had other brothers then they must have been his younger siblings as Mary was a virgin when married to Joseph. In the proto-Gospel of James, Joseph is presented as an older man, a widower who had children from his first marriage, so Jesus's siblings weren't Mary's children. But, as the Rabbi said, that is a later fabrication. I find it more plausible that Mary and Joseph had several children together and were just a normal couple. Only later, when the virgin birth myth came up, some scribe changed the passage in Mark from "the son of Joseph" to "the son of Mary".

To me it's no important if she was virgin or not. I only use a bit of common sense,, about what was written when Jesus was on the cross. He asked his best and most loyal follower to take care of his mother. To me that is an indication she has not more children. All religions have some fantasies. Judaism has a lot of fantasies too. However, speaking as an orthodox Jew...I recently heard a Roman Catholic say they Don't pray TO Mary but through her based on her merits...similar to what (??) I think we do with our Tzadekim at their Kever... We are NOT praying TO them. We also are NOT praying to them when we have pictures/depictions of them in our homes ..they are simply reminders for us to act better and live a meaningful life ..even with all of our issues/challenges. I used to be a traditional Roman Catholic, and let me tell you, the traditional Catholics especially are gaga about Mary. There is so much dedication given to her in prayer, it's impossible to say "we're just praying through her, asking her to ask God for things". Observant Catholics tend to say more "Hail Mary" prayers than prayers to God via the Rosary and additional Hail Marys that priests will tell you to say after confessing your sins to them. Catholics will routinely ask her and other saints for things, directly. "St. Anthony, please find my lost keys", because he's the "patron saint of lost objects". "Mary Undoer of Knots" is someone you pray to in order to resolve issues in your life. I used to do some of these prayers. Thank God I don't pray to Mary/saints anymore. Some Catholics even believe, and have believed for centuries without condemnation by the Vatican, that Mary is the "Co-Redemptrix", i.e. that she (and not just Jesus) saves people from their sins. It's simply cognitive dissonance, grasping at straws for Catholics/Orthodox to claim that they don't actually pray TO saints, and only pray THROUGH saints. If they were only praying THROUGH saints, they would always use the formula "Saint X please pray for us to get Y". I think these Mary/saint prayer traditions arose because when Greeks and Romans began to convert en masse, they were used to petitioning multiple gods for different intentions (Neptune for safe travel at sea, Venus for love/fertility, etc), so the Christian Church came up with a way of appeasing that pagan desire without technically worshipping anybody but God.

G-d said be fruitful and multiply,and G-d made us able to multply.Wouldnt the good Mary be defying G-d,by refusing her husband his right to her body? There were and are those who hurt or mislead us for their own gold and silver using Jesus' name but can we for a moment put those aside and without hatred look at the Man himself? Is it possible that this 'jewish man' was granted Godly wisdom and Power to do the things that he did and yet submitted to death on the cross to show us something about the almighty? The Immaculate Conception, where Mary is cleansed of the taint of sin before birth, is a very damning doctrine. It undermines the very foundation of Christianity - that all people are born with original sin, & God needed to sacrifice Jesus so that everyone can be saved. If God can do that with Mary, why not with everyone else, so that they all start out life immaculate like Mary? If original sin is just like other sin, and it was in fetus Mary, then God showed he can forgive sin (original, at least) from individuals, but chooses to only do so once, to lay the groundwork for the incarnation of Jesus. Which also makes God seem weaker, limited, that he must prepare a special, singular female that can refuse, for his designs.

Actually, you said a lot of things ignoring what we can read in the Bible as proposed by Catholics. In Genesis 3: 15 We read that the *"seed of the woman"* in contrast to *seed of the man* which one knows generally as referring to the descendants of a particular man (because men father ..). And it's clear that GOD didn't make a mistake while talking about the "Seed of the Woman" not Man. Jesus got His human nature from Mary, and is the "Seed of the Woman" that crushes the head of Satan going to the cross and rising. This seed of the woman, if not free from the original sin, would be sinful in nature (known as that which we inherit) just like all men are today. The sinful nature is the reason why a man as he grows sins. Isaiah prophesied the birth was free of travail (meaning not as generally experienced by women).... Reading Luke 1: 41-43, Mary is called Mother of my LORD. And we know from the same Luke 1: 76 that John is that voice that cries in the desert to prepare the way for the LORD (Isaiah 40: 3, Malachi 3: 1). Luke was literally saying that Jesus is the LORD.
