For those of you who know the difference between an isolator switch and a circuit breaker, regarding functions, how it works, etc.. however, in this scenario (solar power setup), it is theory against the actual application. I also have experienced the same thing as mentioned in this video. This video is a reply to multiple queries I received from my viewers and Padawans regarding the importance of PV and battery isolator switches in a solar power system. Here's the question... “Is it really important to have these isolator switches between solar panel arrays and SCC or hybrid inverters, or is it just a waste of money or investment?”
Due to arching when switching on and off the PV array or the battery bank, circuit breakers gradually deteriorates along the process. In the worst-case scenario, the arching could potentially burn any circuit breakers and cause a fire. This is the part where isolator switches play a great role in making any solar power system even safer.

Hello po sir Jf. You mentioned on 5:50 na ioff muna ang isolator switch before the breaker. Mas maganda po na ioff muna ang breaker 1st before the isolator switches dahil designed ang mga breakers to break under load. Much safer way is to disconnect your loads before turning off the breakers. Yun mga isolator switch po ay wala silang arc quenching mechanism kaya posible po silang masunog when disconnected under load. Gaya po nyang battery isolator if you open it you wil see that it is just a switch and if disconnected under load mag aarc po sya at magkakaroon ng burn marks same sa pv isolators. may specs din ako nabasa for PV isolators na they are not recommended to be disconnected under load. The isolators is only used to make sure that the system is isolated so it is safe when you need to do work on your system.

" big reason NOT to use a circuit breaker as a disconnect switch is a question of endurance. Disconnect switches are designed for a high number of operations, how many times the disconnect switch is turned on and off . Circuit breakers are typically not rated for nearly the same amount of operations."

Good day sir JF! F nakakaroon n ng arching ang CB ng Battery at PV need na po talaga siya palitan? Follow up question sir f meron ka 48V setup tapus 2 sets siya 200AH ang bawat battery in total 400AH siya pwde na ba palitan siya ng 40 na MCCB type? Thanks in advance...

SIR JF, may tanong lang po ako tungkol sa NEUTRAL at LINE [ N ] at [ L ], ito po ba ang positive at negative??? may DIY po ako na ang ginamit kong idea ay yong demo mo.Naka bili kas akong WATT METER na neutral at line, saka po hindin sya naka align sa negative positive kong baga mis-match...salamat po,sana pakisagot naman po...

Ang L (Line) at N (Neutral) hindi yan symbol for DC pang AC yan. Ang symbol ng DC ay - (negative) at + (positive).

​@@mopikozzIsolator is just a disconnecting device. It won't trip or shutdown the line kapag may fault or short circuit. Trabaho ng MCB ang trip ng line kapag may overcurrent or short current. SPD naman kapag may surge voltage na related sa indirect lightning or just voltage spike/surge
