thanks Michael - very good points and lovely images - very much agree about the enjoyment of being in the location, as well as capturing the image, and hence not rushing. More me, this is why going back to the same location several times is a good thing - I can enjoy it more, and enjoy finding subtle variations. The light will be different, the sky different, the grasses may have grown, and so on. thank you for sharing your expertise and always look forward to your videos.

Great video. I'm actually heading down to Melbourne (Australia) for a week and then the great ocean road and I have an idea of the spots I want to shot but was just going to turn up at the right time. I think now I might try and spend the daytime trying to find the right composition and vantage points. It's true what you say about rushing at a spot and not being able to enjoy the surrounds. I do that all the time! Thanks again. Happy holidays and Merry Xmas. Look forward to more of your vids in 2018.

Hello Michael, thank you for your insights. A question though, when you are a good distance away from your camera and do a selfie, what is your method there? Do you use long countdown timer - or what works best for you.

I guess I should include it in a future video, since you are already the second person asking :-) I use the Interval function on my 5DsR and just set it to take a photo every 10 seconds or so and repeat this for a minute or longer depending on how far I will be away from the camera. I later delete the photos where I wasn't in position yet

I guess the person in the photos is you, so my question is how do you take "selfies" when you're such a distance from the camera ? My A7R gives me 10 seconds maximum. Are you using a remote transmitter ?
@mibreit-photo7 жыл бұрын
On the 5Dsr there's an Interval feature where you can take multiple photos at a fixed intervall (e.g. for doing timelapses). I use this Interval function and just set it to take a photo every 10 seconds or so and repeat this for a minute or longer depending on how far I will be away from the camera. The Sony Cameras should have a similar feature. In the end I then just delete the photos where I'm not yet in position In this case though, I was there with other photographers and I had one press the shutter for me ;-)

Great idea, never thought of using an intervalometer for that purpose ! The Sony A7 range doesn't;t have this option so an external unit is required.

Hello Michael, once again thank you for sharing your talent. Question: When photographing snow is it still important to Expose to the Right (ETTR) ??? I thank you for your time on this matter ...
@mibreit-photo7 жыл бұрын
Hello Alan, if you have a complete snowy landscape it might not be that important. But as soon as you have dark trees or rocks the dynamic range can become quite huge, so to get the most out of the sensor ETTR is still important. But with snow you have to be very carefull to not overexposre, so use the Exposure warning!
