This wonderful woman with such an ultra patriarchal essence.. who was a Mother to us all.. who taught us all- Was not a Mother in real life. Wow! Maybe that’s how she was able to give us so much. So many cultural, spiritual, societal and inner city life lessons were taught to us by this one soul. Her contributions really couldn’t be measured back then but we knew she was important.. she was clearly special and a gift. It’s somewhat mysterious that she was missing two important things yet she forged ahead. No children.. and the other thing was equally perplexing, yet I still insist that the mysterious, gradual disappearance of Florida Evan’s neck has never truly been properly investigated.😅✌🏽

I liked Esther Rolle as a person, but I didn't like her getting herself involved in that Physic Line bs back in the day. That all was just about people stealing desperate people's money, and I wouldn't have thought that she'd ever get involved in something like that.

I did not like it when she was mad about them having a black Jesus on their wall. I'm a Buddhist but I still didn't like that at all. It was bringing them luck. I also didn't like when she made James return that money to the police station. They were subtly hinting that they lived in CABRINI GREEN but Florida wanted to be too damn honest in that situation💜
@Anetekonjo14 күн бұрын
I always looked up to Ms Ester Rolle, she stood up for principles of what a black family should look like for Good Times. She was a amazing actress and dancer. I really appreciate her standing up for what she believed in. Jimmy Walker said they never spoke and he didn’t know one thing about Ms Ester Rolle, I found that to be very sad.

Jimmy Walker is a real A-hole. He’s rude as hell and doesn’t treat anyone right. He lived in NC when I knew him. Him not showing up for Ester had little to do with her. He owns that scar.

So interesting that she stood her ground for having a father in the home! I have such respect for her insistence to have a husband. Why did Norman Lear discourage this?
@AllAboutPurple12 күн бұрын
Mad respect, JJ didn’t appreciate how she was looking out for him. She wanted to portray positive roles, they were dumbing down his character too much. I guess Norman liked stereotypical families, people like him only want to produce media that only shows single black moms
