Most of Dudley's moves and his gentlemanly personality come from the character named Jose Mendoza from Ashita no Joe. The movements called "no guard" and "cross counter" are inspired by the protagonist of Ashita no Joe. In the first Dudley scenario, Joe's coach appears. And Dudley's mustache is also inspired by Jose Mendoza's mustache.

hey top hat and pals, just thought you might like to know some trivia, i was a big fan of the hajime no ippo boxing comics a while back yeah its a great comic, worth your time... in sf4 dudleys ultras are a tribute to those characters moves ippos- dempsey roll of course itself an homage to Jack Dempsey and Dates heart break shot which is basically identical to cork screw blow.
